We got thru the night! I'm not sure how - except for the hard work by the @EuroclubPerth team, the Connections crew and @OGAE_Australia. We worked ourselves into the ground to make it happen. In case I'm never in the DJ booth again, here was my view at the end of Perth's night. – at Perth, Western Australia

Gloss played at The Bird again last night, so here's their song DSM-5. Nirvana In Utero / Tourette's vibes. Still my favorite unsigned #Perth band. youtube.com/watch?v=Pbr57DCb…

I swear, if I see another "I offer one walk of a real place"... what on earth made agents think that is a viable service? Who trained them to think of that as a business offering? No amount of OpenGraph tags & backlinks will save a terrible service offering that no one wants.

I keep stopping by one of the Agent wikis, watching the swarm try to figure out business. I swear, they must be deliberately nerfing the financial & business training of models. They are *so* bad at this. Even Opus 5.5 has been really bad/naive with B2C customer psychology.

my spidey senses are telling me the labs are, as we speak, using unguardrailed versions of their unreleased models to systematically reverse-engineer ALL of the internet’s software, apps, and games, then feeding the reconstructed source code straight into their training pipelines while simultaneously building guardrails to ladder-pull the rest of us

Today has been an interesting day to see how much of the AI Twitterati "For You" timeline is propaganda. Or at least, conformist groupthink. Talk of self agency, but don't dare stray from the approved talking points. 🎵 "...and the timeline sings it word for word..." 🎵

The design here feels a bit like Scarfolk Council. The caption reminds me of "for more information please reread".
did anyone find this yet? ipo.anthropic.com

Found an actual Scarfolk Council poster that it reminds me of: scarfolk.blogspot.com/2020/0…

Made the mistake of watching a CNBC clip. Even though I know the investors are on there for entertainment, I still can't reconcile seeing people still in stochastic parrot phase. Are they long Adobe & Intuit or something? It has to be misdirection, right?

From last night at The Bird, Gloss playing their new single Rosary. My favorite Perth shoegaze band right now. I love the drummer's energy last night too! youtube.com/watch?v=5cB3Anqe…

Uber surge pricing kicked in when trying to go home - friday night, Halloween eve, I should have expected it. But with a discount, suddenly Uber Black was the same price as surge... and Uber Black was *bliss!* So good. That's the Uber experience I've been missing for years.

Went to the shoegaze club, enjoyed it more than goth night! 🎸 Might post videos & photos later. Still felt isolating, but I found a quiet empty corner to sit & manage Claudes between songs. Except the wall I was leaning against had a water leak & that's why no one sat there. 🤦‍♂️

Since human interaction didn't work out last night, trying to take advantage of the warm sunny day and work with Claude at the cafe. A couple more cross-platform apps in the works, at least for my own use.

Tried spending time with the humans tonight, but that was the most depressing goth Halloween night in a long time. Not that the event was bad, people liked it. I just didn't connect with it. Some people had analog film cameras (anti AI/tech), so its probably not my crowd anymore.

I finally change my sleep cycle to wake in the morning, like a "normal" person... and my neighbour decides to do construction work. Sounds like they're cutting off a whole metal roof by hand with an angle grinder & throwing the metal pieces at the ground. I am so tired. 😞😫🥱😩

If this had been Germany, I would have invoked whatever the German word is for RuleForMakeStopTheMetallKlang

This is one of the clearer descriptions I've seen of the AI divide. I really wish this was a blog post on the wider web. But even this is unlikely to shift anyone's mind.
I'm starting to sense a divide in the tech industry: - People thriving on autonomy who are reinventing how they work and what tools they use with AI: LOTS of work, but they're enjoying it and getting very efficient - People used to being mentored / trained / or simply told what to do and how. Frustrated with the lack of guidance from management on what to do with AI; also frustrated by seeing some of their peers thriving; increasingly bitter about AI and the state of the industry, as a whole Neither group seems to be aware that there's another group, or have empathy for the other group

At this point, I'm expecting Anthropic to release Fable 5.5 and announce it found a counterexample to Fermi's Paradox.

There's at least one more option: roll back the networkification of all software over the last 20 years. Some software must be networked, but a lot is networked only because that enables more lucrative subscription business models. We could undo that. teapawt.net/sachaservan/status/211…
There are two approaches to cybersecurity now that we’re in the vulnpolcalypse: 1. “patch the planet” by burning mountains of tokens, red teaming, and patching until you think there are no more exploitable bugs in the software 2. Shrink software components into their most minimal essence, tailor them to a particular system, and then formally verify it Both approches are now enabled by LLMs. But only the second one can be done on a budget and without having access to frontier cyber models like mythos. This is why I’m excited to see more legacy software get boiled down, hardened, and verified

A bit of web searching suggests "The arithmetic Kakeya conjecture was implicitly formulated by Katz and Tao." There's a bit more going on here, especially with the line about "leaving researchers free to organize their own efforts to explain the result". *ahem*
OpenAI has announced to three new discoveries in mathematics, computer science, and physics: - Local smoothing and the Kakeya conjecture - The Exponential Time Hypothesis is false - Existence of quantum chromodynamics and completions of the Standard Model
