ALT TODAY AT GENERAL SYNOD 12 JULY 2025 Synod will debate two motions about church finance – one on the Church’s £1.6 billion three-year spending plans; and one calling for national funds to be redistributed directly to local dioceses. Legislation under discussion today includes the National Church Governance Measure which would bring together several national church bodies into a new simpler structure. There will be the first stage of legislation changing how military chaplains are licensed so they can operate more easily as their units travel around. And there are two private member’s motions – one about clergy pensions and one calling for a review of how the House of Bishops operates.

The devastating loss of innocent Palestinian life and humanitarian catastrophe resulting from Israel’s bombardment and siege of Gaza cannot be morally justified.

The call for a ceasefire is a moral cry for humanity to find another way to achieve justice, security and peace for Israelis and Palestinians.
The bloodshed must cease, hostages must be released, and aid must reach those in dire need.
In Christ’s name, we cry from our hearts: “No more. This killing must stop.”
