Fat Falcon BG vs ISU educational tweet of the week: BGSU is beating Iowa State Saturday and before Iowa State fans find this tweet and tell me we lost by 49 to Nebraska, I am aware. I unfortunately watched the game. But Iowa State is not Nebraska and I really don’t understand why we’re acting like this is some unbeatable team. Iowa State just lost 16-13 to Iowa. They’re averaging 279 yards of offense through 2 games and completing 52.8% of their passes. Matt Campbell is gone, Rocco Becht is gone and they lost a ton in the portal. This is not the Iowa State team people got used to the last few years. BG obviously has issues. You don’t lose 56-7 by accident. But if there was ever a P4 team to play after that game, give me this sorry Iowa State team. BG has actually done a decent job possessing the ball this year too. If we can run it, keep the clock moving and not hand Iowa State points, this game can get weird. That’s really the entire path to an upset. Don’t try to play a Big 12 team like you’re a Big 12 team. Make the game suck. Make them go 75 yards every possession. Run the ball. Take 6 minutes off the clock. Punt. Do it again. Get a turnover somewhere and make 50,000 Iowa State fans start wondering why it’s 10-7 in the 3rd quarter against the team that just got murdered by Nebraska. Because THAT is what is going to happen. Iowa State is supposed to win this game by 3 touchdowns. BG has basically nothing to lose. If this is still a one score game late, all the pressure is on the team whose fans spent the entire week assuming the MAC school was their get right game. I don’t need BG to suddenly become good enough to win the Big 12. I need Iowa State to be bad enough to lose to Bowling Green. And after watching them score 13 points against Iowa, I’m willing to conduct the experiment.
