"When PM asked me post the election of September 2025, I had to consult with the family. I engaged my siblings. That did not go down too well." You are still not at peace with yourself after the betrayal. Neither is your father, who can't rest in peace. I now understand though.

George Davis who is a rabid labourite says entertainers are only good for making rhymes, they must shut their mouths on issues of governance. Does this fool know who Bob Marley and Peter Tosh are? The man is so eager to get ppl to shut up he becomes a condescending POS.

Two teenagers. Both were 16 years old. One was white. One was Black. Their experiences with the American justice system were very different. On the left is Timothy Hudson, who is accused of sexually assaulting and k*lling his 18-year-old stepsister, Anna Kepner, aboard a cruise ship in November 2025. Hudson was initially allowed to live with a family member under electronic monitoring while his case proceeded through the juvenile system. In April 2026, he was indicted and transferred to adult court, facing charges of first-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse. In June, a judge revoked his pretrial release and ordered him detained until trial. Hudson has pleaded not guilty, and the allegations have yet to be proven in court. On the right is Kalief Browder. In 2010, when he was just 16, Kalief was accused of stealing a backpack in the Bronx. He maintained his innocence, but because his family could not afford bail, he spent three years at Rikers Island awaiting trial. Nearly two of those years were spent in solitary confinement. He was never convicted. The charges were eventually dropped, and he was released in 2013. But freedom did not erase what he had endured. Kalief struggled with severe psychological trauma after his release. In June 2015, at just 22 years old, he died by suicide. His story became a symbol of the devastating consequences of prolonged pretrial detention and the treatment of young people in the American criminal justice system. These cases are different, and the allegations against Hudson are not the same as a conviction. But the contrast raises difficult questions about how young people are treated before trial, how much freedom they are given, and how wealth and race can shape people’s experiences of justice. Kalief spent three years behind bars without ever being convicted of a crime. Hudson was initially allowed to remain with family while facing extremely serious charges, before a judge later ordered his detention. Justice should never depend on the colour of someone’s skin or their family’s ability to afford freedom. And no teenager should have to lose years of their life waiting for a day in court.

Yesterday, PNP President Mark Golding joined MP Caretaker for South West St Elizabeth, Cde Dr Miranda Wellington, in Parottee, where they engaged residents on the challenges facing their communities. One year after Hurricane Melissa, the road to recovery remains difficult for many families. The PNP remains committed to putting people first and ensuring that no community is left behind. @MarkJGolding

Opposition Spokesperson on Justice Zuleika Jess MP condemns the Government's directive making NIDS registration mandatory for Hurricane Melissa relief. Using trauma to force registration is unacceptable. You cannot demand biometric data from citizens sleeping under tarpaulins to access taxpayer funded aid. The Government must rescind this heartless and unconstitutional mandate and release relief based on need, not compliance. #ZuleikaJess #NIDS #HurricaneMelissa #ROOFSGrant #PNP

🔘 COMMENTARY: The PM's wild swing Prime Minister Andrew Holness came to the wicket on Tuesday like a number 9 batsman on a pitch that did not favour spin. His wild swing at reporters suggesting they were attempting to amplify certain narratives received applause—quite the surprise at a government press conference. The Prime Minister was addressing his country 364 days after Hurricane Melissa, the Category Five cyclone that hit Jamaica. He also used the event to pay tribute to those who did not survive the storm, commiserate with those still hurting and announce government belt-tightening to divert more resources to help the victims. But here's the crux. Elaborating on the ban on non-essential official overseas travel, the Prime Minister declared that he had to send a strong signal after seeing a "substantial" travel bill. "I said, 'I wonder if these people realize that there are still people without roofs'," he told the gathering. He further explained that it seemed like the government was moving on and was not sensitive to the fact that not everyone was in a position to do the same. So, a year after the October disaster, the PM announced the government was making a further $9.6 billion available under the ROOFS Programme to help another 50,000 people who had yet to receive support to rebuild their houses. He gave his government a "ticky" for the storm preparation and the immediate relief phases but conceded his disappointment with the pace of the recovery phase, which began in January this year. Yet when reporters contextualise the realities expressed by the still-hurting victims, the chief servant suggests they are resurrecting or perpetuating narratives. Reporters are not going to be among the applauding throng, Prime Minister. You should not expect that. They will amplify the waning cries of the weather-worn people of Culloden, Westmoreland; Slipe, St. Elizabeth; Burnside, Hanover; and Zion, Trelawny. That the government is now allocating almost the same amount initially set aside under the ROOFS programme shows that the need remains stark. No one expected things to be perfect a year after the storm. But you cannot acknowledge the suffering of thousands, then dismiss their lived experiences as partisan narratives when reporters bring those realities into sharp focus. You cannot expect euphemisms and pretty speeches from journalists whose duty is to tell it as the victims live it. And you certainly cannot applaud yourself for acknowledging the pain while swinging wildly at those who dare to ask questions of you.

Burkina Faso President Ibrâhim Traore says: “ I am NOT a politician so I will tell you the Truth . Everyday we see politicians with multiple cars , they eat and dress good . They eat in the morning and evening while millions of people out there have no food . Go to the villages and see how women are suffering. We have families that can’t afford anything . There is a problem if we have people enjoying while others are suffering. Yes we are fixing a lot of things but it is not enough . We must make sure that in Bukina Faso everyone is OKAY. “
