There’s a VERY good reason asylum seekers get circus tickets and Amazon parcels.
But the Mail on Sunday was never going to tell you that.
Here’s the crucial detail they left out: 🧵

I love my country with all my heart and I've never been more embarrassed for America than the spectacle I just witnessed in the Oval Office.
Zelensky is fighting for the survival of his country, his people and their democracy.
Trump and Vance appear to be completely aligned with Putin, the invader whose aim has been to conquer Ukraine.
Zelensky should know that millions and millions of Americans still stand with him and his valiant people.

No, the meeting did not go badly for Ukraine. It exposed in the most undeniable, unequivocal way possible the pro-Putin commitments of the president and vice president. That was information Americans and allies needed to have clear before them.

18-year-old voters were only 10 when Trump's 'grab 'em by the p***y' comments were made public.
Now, they're just discovering it.

A developer wants to destroy one of the last remaining riverside meadows beside the Roding in London. 11 acres of rapidly rewilding meadow, a haven for nature in an urban area, where kingfishers nest, kestrels & bats take flight & all manner of insects, butterflies & amphibians live, is proposed to be bulldozed to create a crazy golf course. This despite the fact that there are already *two* existing golf courses within a few hundred metres of this site!
The meadows used to be a publicly accessible playing field, but the person behind the development appears to have locked it up & allowed rubbish & flytipping to proliferate to make this site look ugly & unused; & thereby justify its destruction. I have been helping local residents to organise a campaign to ‘Save the Roding Meadows’ & they’ve done so much in a short space of time. Last weekend, they showed the power of community & organised a work day to do the landowners job for them and clean up the large amount of rubbish in the meadows.
You can help them in their efforts by taking a moment to share this post and sign and share their petition:

If you live anywhere locally (in LB Redbridge or along the Roding) any additional objections to the local authority would be really helpful. The application is below, & you can use this link to log objections via the portal. The deadline is this Friday (4th October):

Residents have compiled an example letter setting out the key objections at this link. Feel free to use, but personalised letters are preferable if at all possible:

Fingers crossed that the depth of care felt by local people for nature can save this irreplaceable meadow from destruction.

If Trump’s thrown this far off his game by a single debate, imagine how foreign adversaries can use him.

infuriating to see men suggesting that the purpose of older women is to assist in raising children when their true purpose is to solve crimes.

🧵We KNOW Donald Trump is a criminal. But not enough Americans know what happened to the criminals around him. You’re not going to like the answer.

This is how it's done. This should be required viewing for the American press -- who are still engaging in bothsidesism, balance over objectivity, and false equivalencies. This is how you conduct an interview with a serial lying sociopath like Kari Lake.

What awful news. Chance Perdomo gave a heartbreaking performance in Killed By My Debt, full of empathy and sensitivity, carrying the film on his young shoulders. An incredible talent. Deepest condolences to his friends and family.

As the issue of compensation for miscarriages of justice is rightly in the news, it’s timely to note that in 2014, the government changed the law to make it all but impossible for people wrongly convicted and imprisoned to claim compensation.

They do not care one jot if a girl’s head is smashed into the rim of a car door. Which is why no one believes the regime’s assertion that #ArmitaGaravand is currently in a coma after sustaining head injuries from an altercation with these despicable thugs “due to a collapse induced by a drop in blood pressure”. The fact that her mother has now been arrested for expressing an infinitesimal amount of frustration with the situation says it all.
The similarity with #MahsaAmini who died from similar head injuries is distinct and pointed. Iran is a country about to blow. ⬇️

Relationship tip: when your partner makes an awful but innocent mistake (leaves their phone in the cab, forgets their passport when heading to the airport for an international flight, drops and shatters a beloved item, gets in a fender bender, etc.), don't get mad at them. It makes no sense (it was accidental) and it accomplishes nothing except supplementing an already bad situation with an unnecessary fight.
Instead, think about it like this: as a couple, you will commit like 20 of these hideous mistakes a year and who knew that one of them was gonna happen today, but it did, so that sucks, but it's also a little bit funny, and let's just make the best of it.
This turns those moments from relationship-damaging to relationship-building. And of course, what goes around comes around—you do dumb things too, and you'd much rather your partner be a laughing teammate than an angry parent in those situations.
I didn't used to do this, I learned it from my wife. I am a frequent committer of hideous mistakes, and it surprised me that she never got mad about it, and then I started being like that too.
