I understand this is a spicy take and it’s just my opinion! To all the people saying “I can’t make beats” neither could I but then I looked at JT Music, Miracle of Sound and Nerdout (my 3 fave nerdcore artists when I came into the scene) and all of them could make their own songs from scratch It took me YEARS to get decent at doing everything but it 1000000% made me an overall better artist in every sense I’ve done everything from being a performing artist back in the day to being a topliner to then doing it all and I think there’s just a new level of understanding when you learn all the pieces Is it necessary? NOOOOO Does it make a difference, ABSOLUTELY Especially when it comes to gaining control over the consistency of your music. There’s a reason the industry hides the Swiss Army knife artists that do everything for them 😂 I still have an immense amount of respect for high level artists who move differently. It’s just different. Most people don’t want to learn the skills that nobody cheers for, and I think it’s admirable when people are passionate to learn those things because they love the process THAT much.
