Archiving this to use every time the @GOP claims credit for it.
House Democrats just passed the most transformative investment in America in a generation — and not a single Republican supported it. Now, it's up to the Senate to urgently pass the Build Back Better Act.

to all the geothermal believers out there, the flippening has come in NV Energy’s 2026 filing, 3 geothermal offers came in at $105–107/MWh, below the ~$114/MWh capacity-weighted average for 11 solar + bess offers in Nevada, of all the sunny places the 3 solar + bess projects NV Energy put forward in 2024 averaged ~$94/MWh, but this 2026 slate is pricier, e.g., Boulder Solar III’s levelized price jumped from ~$85/MWh to ~$125/MWh after permitting delays, land carrying costs, higher financing costs, and, of course, big, bad tariffs. could geothermal pull off a solar + wind circa 2010 move and scale faster to come down the cost curve? it now has a much longer tax-credit runway than new solar + wind projects (oh how the tables have turned), plus firm output and higher energy density (all true for nuclear too) and for the 24/7 solar crowd: the ~$114/MWh average covers solar paired mostly with 4-hour batteries, and we all know 12+ hours of storage would cost more and still wouldn’t cover multi-day gaps it might be time for more geothermal, people

Actual climate scientist here. The permitting reform bill was introduced by Senate climate champions like @SenWhitehouse. It will reduce US emissions. We don't have the luxury to make the perfect the enemy of the good – which time and time again has led to doing nothing at all.
The problem with invective-spewing Abundance bros like Johnson is that they dismiss the science of climate change — which makes assessing trade-offs in policymaking so much easier, of course.

Trump denies the claims about him in the Epstein Files. They’ve never been fully investigated by authorities, let alone covered in the press. Can you imagine if these claims appeared in the files about Biden? Can you imagine the GOP reaction? They’d talk about nothing else.
“He raped me.” “Donald J Trump had raped her along with Jeffrey Epstein.” “She was found with her head ‘blown off’… there was no way it was a suicide.” …describing a child victim, pulled from the Epstein files, of which Trump is still uncharged and actively covering up.

Here is an example of how AI cannot be used to determine cause and effect. Suppose you want to know the impact of CO2 on climate. With a physics model, you run two simulations, one with the current atmosphere and a second with the current atmosphere but without CO2. AI can give you future estimates of the current atmosphere (ignoring the accuracy) but can't give you any future prediction of the current atmosphere without CO2 since there are no data available to train it without CO2. Here is a more specific example. In this example, the GATOR-GCMOM model, which is arguably the most complex and advanced computer model in the world of any kind web.stanford.edu/group/efmh/… is used to show, by cause-and-effect, the observed impact of anthropogenic CO2 plus anthropogenic aerosol particles plus the urban heat island effect on global climate, where the observations are the global surface air temperature change from 1901-1930 to 2015. web.stanford.edu/group/efmh/… Such cause and effect can never be shown or validated with AI because AI cannot simulate a world physically without ACOS, AAP, or the UHI. Even if you use AI to improve the physics calculations for both simulations (which will only take more computer time), the result is no longer correct, because the pure physical calculation was changed by a non-physical interpolation, rendering the impact both non-conserving (since interpolations result in non-conservation of energy, potential enstrophy, vorticity, mass, momentum, and other properties) and non-reliable for calculating the impact since the impact is no longer based on traceable physics.
AI has its limits. It is not nearly so good as physical models for predicting weather extremes science.org/doi/10.1126/scia… has little ability to predict normal weather past 15-30 days, no ability to determine cause and effect like a physical atmospheric-ocean model does, so no ability at all to predict the impacts of different chemicals on future climate decades from now. So training people simply to use AI and not to learn physics, chemistry, biology, etc. deprives future generations the ability to solve many problems that AI will never solve because it is not and cannot be designed to solve.

U.S. Congress passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act. A federal judge ordered the U.S. Department of Justice to produce the unredacted documents. The DOJ has refused to hand over Epstein files after a judge's order. The deadline was July 2, 2026. As someone works in human rights, I’ve never seen anything like the Epstein files in my 15-year career. There are 3 million files of documented evidence about powerful men who Raped Cannibalized Trafficked Filmed Terrorized Tortured Murdered 13, 14, 15 year children! Remember: this is a minority of the files. This's just what they were willing to release. Not a single arrest or investigation. ZERO. We called on the U.S. Department of Justice to hand over the full Epstein files to the UN Special Rapporteurs and UN independent committees for investigations, as this is an international case of crimes against humanity. But the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN's top human rights official didn't even care to open an investigation or listen to our call for the DoJ, nor utter a single word regarding the largest human trafficking network in modern history. Epstein pedophiles are investigating Epstein files. We wonder why nobody arrested. Jeffery Epstein has every major politicians and billionaires on video doing something terrible to a child or to multiple people. THOUSANDS have been arrested for criticizing Zionism. THOUSANDS have been arrested for social media posts. ZERO have been arrested for raping children. The Epstein files is never really about just a "list." It is about children raped by powerful men, and a system that let them get away with it. The bottom line here is the world system has become so corrupt that the time has come I think to clean the crap out of the stables and start over. The Epstein files is about protecting children. There's no greater cause. If people can't unite over children being raped and abused there's no hope for humanity. I don't understand how we're not having a global revolution right now.

Announcing the first close of our Series B: $134 Million to build the world’s first superhot #geothermal power plant. Backed by nearly all our existing investors, with @PreludeVC leading the round, we’re welcoming new and strategic investments that include JERA Co., Inc. and @Idemitsu_Kosan, two of Japan’s largest energy companies. The Series B equity is the first component of a diverse financing that includes project-level capital and debt. The proceeds will fund Project Obsidian in Central #Oregon while continuing the development and commercialization of our breakthrough millimeter wave #drilling technology towards depths in excess of 5 km. “Our ambition is to power civilization with Earth's most compelling #energy source,” said Carlos Araque, our CEO and President. “This round takes us from field-proven technology to first commercial revenues.” Read the full press release below.

I haven't seen anyone tracking all of the alleged (or open) Trump corruption, self-dealing, and quid pro quos in one place. For the last 15 months, I've been tracking every single tip+story I can find and organizing it. Today, I published a 6,000 word piece with every example.

Excellent reporting on the mind-boggling scale of Trump family corruption. ⬇️ I hope blue states are looking at ways to indict and prosecute these felons at the state level since Trump will pardon them.
