A spokesperson clarified to The Sun tonight that Maryland AD Jim Smith will not take questions from the media when introducing Aazaar Abdul-Rahim on Tuesday.
"Focus is on Aazaar and the Illinois game," spokesperson said.
Buzz Williams is crushing it at the podium. Apologized for being “too wordy” after a 5 minute answer about roster construction. Cracking jokes at some reporters. Still says “I don’t pay attention to any media.” Hasn’t changed a bit.
A fitting end to Mike Locksley's frustrating tenure for media. I know nobody wants to hear us complain about access. But it was truly dire and reached an embarassing point this season. Hope that changes with a new regime.
For @testudotimes, @JudeWilkenfeld and I were outside Jones-Hill House trying to get players to comment. An athletics staffer took pictures of us, and a police dispatch was called for suspicious activity; a cop and 2 cop cars pulled up, and officers ID’d us and asked us to leave.
Update: Maryland will pay Mike Locksley the full $9.73M buyout, per an athletic department spokesperson. baltimoresun.com/2026/10/21/…

Jim Smith is quiet, Darryll Pines is nowhere to be seen, and together they’ve allowed Maryland football to hit rock bottom.

As always, AD Jim Smith is here for Mike Locksley’s postgame presser. Deputy AD Diana Sabau also here.
We know what’s going to happen with Locksley. The more important questions: Where are Jim Smith and Darryll Pines? Why is Maryland's administration standing by this? Remains to be seen if they’re willing to do what’s necessary.
Maryland takes on Rutgers here in a little over two hours. The Terps have lost the past two matchups. Gray skies and mid-50s temps for homecoming.

Locksley had a long response when asked about Zion Elee’s season. Said "you'll see a lot more of him" moving forward, but "I haven't been pleased with the post-snap things."
Full answer:
Locksley said he has a “strong” relationship with UMD president Darryll Pines and that Pines “cares about Maryland athletics.”
“He’s been a great support for all of athletics, not just me and football. You see him at all the events. I think he has the same love I have.”
Above all else is that Jim Smith must distance himself from Damon Evans. The contract extensions Evans gave Locksley and his inability to fundraise are the reasons Maryland is in this mess.
Smith needs to prove he won't tolerate losing, which remains to be seen.
What are the pros and cons of firing Michael Locksley in the coming weeks rather than waiting for the end of the season?

Somehow, this Facebook comment made it onto the livestream during the mailbag segment of Mike Locksley’s weekly Talkin’ Terps radio show tonight.
It was removed after a few seconds and no more messages appeared on screen.
Things are going well.
Made my @SunEarlyBirds debut to talk Locksley + Terps, what's going wrong, and what the next few weeks could look like ⬇️

New from @Mikephowes: The Sun obtained video of the December incident that led to Maryland WR Josiah Teasley being charged with and convicted of assault.
Teasley remains with the team. Maryland declined to comment when asked if they'd seen the video. baltimoresun.com/2026/09/30/…
In a brief statement to The Sun, Maryland AD Jim Smith said he’s “aligned” with Michael Locksley and “I believe in our coaches."
A team spokesperson added this is the last comment Smith will have on Locksley’s job status.
