In church related breaking news, Crossings Pastor Marty Grubbs announces he is retiring by the end of the year and taking on the role of Senior pastor Emeritus. He has led the multi-site congregation, which now has chapels in all state prisons, for over 40 years. The board will decide next steps. I am tweeting from the balcony so I don’t think I am distracting. Lol.

The most important thing today is that Starlink and Starshield operations have been restored to the speeds we had before the restrictions. The speeds are now where they need to be. The restoration began overnight, and by this morning, speeds were already sufficient. This matters: for our frontline logistics, for defending Ukraine against jet-powered “shaheds.” I thank all Americans and all our partners who took this seriously and truly helped – members of Congress, senators, all the media, the State Department, and the President. Protecting lives matters.

A large, carefully planned Russian propaganda operation appears to be underway. Having starved people in the town of Oleshky for months, Russia, withe US help, will now "liberate" it. Read @ZarinaZabrisky below:
🔴 Behind me, you can see Oleshky: the town no one wanted to hear about nine months ago. Now, the world knows but the ordeal is not over. The next week ceasefire will be used for a “press tour” to whitewash Russia's war crimes. Don't fall for Russian propaganda.

The strange path of a Jewish charter online school seeking approval to operate in Oklahoma. 🚨 BREAKING: Welker to Lavrov: "Here are the facts. Nearly 50,000 civilians have been killed or wounded in this war. Russia has bombed maternity wards, churches, schools, hospitals, and a kindergarten just this week. So either the Russian military lacks precision, or you're targeting civilians. Which is it?"

RIP Caryle Murphy, who reported from inside occupied Kuwait in 1990, hiding from Iraqi troops. She would roll a typewritten story into a tube, dress as a jogger, run past an embassy and throw the tube over the wall to get the story out. @amcovarrubias washingtonpost.com/obituarie…

New lawsuit against the OK County Jail, which like previous lawsuits, could end in a huge settlement paid for by tax-payers. A teenager booked in the jail appeared from the start to have a brain injury, but did not receive treatment. “There was an urgent medical request. Those were never acted upon. He was suffering from severe confusion and incontinence. When they understood and appreciated the severity of his medical need, they discharged him in two minutes" says an attorney for the family of 19-year old Antonio Hendricks. The jail discharged him to an ambulance that took him straight to a hospital for treatment in intensive care. kfor.com/news/local/lawsuit-…

The shifting explanations from Musk and the administration sound like Abbott and Costello’s “Who’s on First?” Except the consequences for Ukrainian civilians are deadly. Musk says he didn’t do it. The administration says it didn’t either. Yet someone in the administration reportedly told Musk to undo it, and Ukraine reports only partial restoration. Are we supposed to believe Hegseth and the Pentagon don’t know the status of a capability critical to U.S., Ukrainian and allied security? Whoever is handing Putin the gift of a more vulnerable Ukraine should at least have the guts to put their name on it. Hiding behind denials while innocent people pay the price is cowardice. Meanwhile, Putin keeps murdering civilians and trying to starve and freeze Ukraine into submission. Americans deserve answers. Ukrainians deserve the means to defend themselves.

As I said several times, little by little, things that would have been unacceptable yesterday become the new normal today. First, we saw more drones entering or crashing in Moldova and Romania. Then we got used to almost daily air alerts, sometimes three or four in a single day in Poland. Now we are dealing with commercial ships being attacked in the Black Sea, with people killed, injured and missing. And every time, the same argument comes up: "You’re not going to war over a drone" or "You’re not going to war over a ship." Of course, nobody wants a war. But this is also how hybrid warfare works: Governments are trapped between two pressures. If they act, people accuse them of risking a wider war. If they don’t, people ask how much more they are willing to tolerate. Every decision is a "problem" But while everyone debates whether each incident justifies a response, the overall situation keeps escalating. And eventually, what was once considered an unacceptable provocation becomes something we have learned to live with. Until the next escalation pushes the limits even further.
BREAKING: 🇷🇴 Another commercial vessel has been struck by a drone and sunk in the Black Sea, approximately 13 nautical miles off Constanța, Romania. The vessel, KHORYV (IMO 8138712), was sailing under the flag of the Comoros Islands from Ereğli, Türkiye, to Sulina, Romania, carrying ferrous materials. According to Romania’s Naval Authority, 13 crew members were on board: 10 Ukrainian nationals and three Azerbaijani nationals. Ministry of Health, report one confirmed death, three crew members missing and nine injured. The vessel reportedly capsized and sank following the impact. Nine crew members were reportedly rescued from the water by another commercial vessel nearby. Romanian authorities have launched a major search-and-rescue operation, deploying Border Police vessels and the Artemis, operated by Romania’s Agency for Saving Human Life at Sea (ARSVOM). A Black Hawk helicopter was also requested, but heavy rain and adverse weather conditions prevented it from reaching the scene. More updates to follow.

Video of Swadley's reaction to hearing he'd walk out prison today. (Also, he was processed & released very quickly, unlike many OK county inmates who end up waiting a day or longer for paperwork/processing to be complete.)
NEW: SIX YEAR SUSPENDED SENTENCE, $1.2 million restitution and 160 hours of community service for restaurant mogul Brent Swadley, convicted of defrauding the state while operating Foggy Bottom Kitchens at OK State Parks. Updates at 12pm on @kfor

I me ed to make a correction— I have learned that the OK County Sheriff transported Swadley from the Grady County Jail where he was housed— so the speed of his release shouldn’t be compared to other inmates released from OK County.

Ukraine is not Russia. That's Putin’s problem – refusing to recognize a separate nation, refusing to recognize a separate country – that's what did him in. He was shown a military operation that was supposed to take three days. We found parade uniforms in their various military vehicles. They were literally marching to a parade. He still doesn't understand and doesn't want to admit that this is a different nation, a different people. They were advancing on Kyiv from all directions. Their main goal was to seize the capital of Ukraine. They reached Kyiv. They trapped us, and then we started hammering them, and they didn't know what to do about it. They were especially shocked when they drove toward the capital and people were just throwing burning mixtures. People were setting their armor on fire. It wasn't a matter of some general being an idiot. I believe the one who gave the order just didn't fully realize what was happening. Because what does taking Kyiv mean? When you've taken those towns on the way to Kyiv, you have to leave troops behind to hold those towns. And that takes a huge number of people. It's a pretty large territory. If the people inside offer resistance, then you need an army to hold every town. That was their mistake. They didn't even realize there would be resistance. That was their main mistake. That's it. From The Diary of a CEO podcast with Steven Bartlett. (1/3)
