Let me tell y’all about @gobrightspeed! I went to my parents’ house on Wednesday and was unable to pull into their driveway. Brightspeed was lined up and down their street installing fiber. Nobody could leave their houses and nobody could use their driveways because of the yards conduit lining the road. I asked my dad what was going on. I go into my parents’ house and my dad had been in the process of calling all morning to figure out what the name of the business was and what they were installing. When he asked a worker, they were unable to tell him what they were doing (🚩). However, what we could see were yards of conduit lining the road and every single front yard dug up (!!!!!). He finally got on the phone with an engineer for BrightSpeed. The engineer told him that they are supposed to have someone on site who can tell what the job is they’re doing (😂), they’re supposed to put door hangers out before coming so people know (I’ll get to that in a minute), and they are supposed to cover with sod and straw when they finish the job (that didn’t happen). Nobody in my parents’ neighborhood was made aware that they wouldn’t be able to leave their house on Wednesday, due to BrightSpeed’s terrible business tactics. The person my dad spoke with said they would be finished up by 5 PM, but they were still working well after 9 PM. It was noisy and loud inside people’s homes due to the long work hours. This is unacceptable. I spoke to a few other people in my town, they had the same issue. Nobody was alerted that this was going to be happening. Flash forward to today, they are currently in front of my house, with yards of conduit lining the road. BrightSpeed did not follow their “protocol” of placing hangers on doors to let people know they’d be coming through. This puts people in a tough position. There are so many safety issues involved with people unable to pull out of their driveways, but as homeowners (even if some are renters!), we deserve to know when someone is coming onto our property and make it impossible for us to leave. I’ll add pictures for reference, but this is unbelievable. I am doubtful anyone will be utilizing BrightSpeed in Johnson City because of this. @JCPress @WJHL11 @CoJCTN
