I’ve seen White, Palmer, Rice and many more do the exact same thing. Players lash out sometimes, that’s the nature of the game. His reaction wasn’t half as bad as the tackle itself. I think Arteta’s reaction was harsh, especially to do it in front of the cameras
I love Max. I don’t care about the Carabao cup either (rather have fewer fixtures in the new year). I think the challenge on him was unnecessarily heavy and a cuntish move.
But if he wants to play men’s football at his age, he needs to be more mature and that’s what Mikel will be thinking.
You don’t lash out, which is what he did. He kicked into him off the ball and planted his studs into the thigh of the twat who went for him. That HAS to be a red card. No ifs or buts.
The smart play is to either go down holding your legs (and get the opposition player booked) or have a teammate smash him on the ball. Anyone advocating that he’s “standing up for himself” there is just as immature as Max was. Did nothing to help himself or his team.
He’s only 16, yes. But if you want to play for a title challenger at 16 then you need to be wiser than that.
