Make them no Pinto you o
It was a seemingly innocuous email, sent on a Wednesday morning in January 2017, that started everything.
Arriving in the inbox of a senior official at Manchester City, it appeared to have been sent by an employee from European football’s governing body, UEFA, and contained a link to a financial compliance report.
The City official clicked the download button. That was all it took.
It was not a genuine email from UEFA but a successful phishing attempt by Portuguese hacker and activist Rui Pinto. City’s servers were breached, allowing Pinto to retrieve thousands of emails and documents from the club’s systems.
This week, almost 10 years on from Pinto’s first email, the Premier League announced that an independent panel had found City guilty of all but one of the charges against them, as The Athletic first revealed last Friday.

And there is Portugal that has given the No.7 shirt out already.
Too late. The problem is gone
🚨 𝗡𝗘𝗪: Pedro Proença and Jorge Jesus went to Copenhagen's airport at the very last minute.
Their intention was to convince Cristiano Ronaldo to stay with the national team.

Two legends. Two countries. Two very different goodbyes.
Lionel Messi retires from Argentina after the World Cup final and his country treats it like a national event. Matches pause in the 10th minute for applause. The president thanks him. The federation gives him a sold-out farewell at the Monumental, a special jersey, and leaves the No. 10 empty until that night. His coach pushed for it. That is respect.
Cristiano Ronaldo is still turning up for Portugal. He sits unused for 90 minutes after being told he would come on. He skips the next group session. The federation president flies in for crisis talks. The coach says he is the one who decides. Hours later Ronaldo leaves camp and says he will explain himself to the Portuguese people later.
Messi is being given a proper ending.
Ronaldo is being managed through a public rift.
Both men gave their countries everything. One is being honoured. The other is being handled. That difference is not about who is greater. It is about how each federation chose to treat its greatest player when the end got close.

You’re here but you left
🚨🇪🇸 Pep Guardiola: "I want EVERY single Manchester City fan around the world to know that I'm here, now more than ever. I'll always stand by my team. I want to be clear: we'll get through all this together. I love you." (@DiMarzio)
There's a new version of this post
It can never be. The premier league has to set an example to avoid a reoccurrence of such nasty behavior.
🚨 I have just been told the most likely punishment for City over the 114 charges will be a one-year transfer ban, £100m fine and a 15-point deduction.
