The latest Karabiner-Elements beta can now show configuration diffs for troubleshooting.
This required managing setting names as labels, so I took the opportunity to add localization support as well.
It took some work, but the app is now fully available in Japanese.
Karabiner-Elements 16.3.0 is out 🎉
It mainly fixes a bug in 16.2.0's update check cycle, plus the remaining delays in key remapping after waking from sleep. I finally managed to reproduce and fix those delays. Personally, I'm glad to have this resolved.

Following the previous release, this update includes many under-the-hood improvements, such as process consolidation and better resource handling.

I've redesigned the community-maintained rules website for Karabiner-Elements. It should now be easier to find the configurations.

The beta version of Karabiner-Elements includes improvements to inter-process communication, making it more robust and reliable.
This change is intended to completely eliminate the rare issue where event modification fails to start because of communication errors.
Karabiner-Elements 16.0.0 has been released.
This version adds major features, including support for writing rules in JavaScript, more efficient integration with external apps via send_user_command, improved context detection using the Accessibility API.

I've published the release candidate for the next version of Karabiner-Elements to the beta channel. If nothing comes up, I plan to release it in a few days.
In the latest Karabiner-Elements beta, you can now use information about the focused UI element via the Accessibility API. Well-designed applications properly expose UI element information, so I hope more applications will support this correctly.
In the latest macOS beta (macOS 26.4 Beta), I've confirmed an issue where Karabiner-Elements cannot modify events from the MacBook's built-in keyboard, and the keys are entered as-is. Please be aware.
Built-in keyboard support for macOS Tahoe 26.4 Beta is now available in the Karabiner-Elements alpha. However, It uses a rather unconventional workaround, so if possible, please use the stable release with an external keyboard on macOS Tahoe 26.4 Beta.

New features were added in the Karabiner-Elements beta.
to_if_other_key_pressed now makes it possible to reliably change option+Tab to command+Tab.
- to_if_other_key_pressed
- send_user_command ( Thanks to @nikivdev )

In the latest Karabiner-Elements beta, I've added to.from_event, which makes it possible to implement a Pass Through Mode that disables all Complex Modifications under specific conditions.

Now that JavaScript support in Karabiner-Elements has stabilized, I'm prioritizing JavaScript examples for expert configuration.
