ALT Executive Summary We are calling on all Nova Scotia political parties to acknowledge how the Covid pandemic continues to harm Nova Scotians, address the current government’s failures, and enact proactive policies to prevent future harm. Nova Scotians need a commitment that the next government will: Acknowledge the airborne transmission of Covid and other illnesses. Protect Nova Scotians by improving indoor air quality to conform with the clean air standards recently established by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE 241, new industry standards) – especially in schools, long-term care facilities, and correctional centres – in adherence with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Ensure the public has universal access to tools that reduce transmission of illness and harm from infection, including rapid tests, masks, antiviral drugs, and vaccines. Launch education campaigns about Long Covid and the dangers of repeat Covid infection.
