According to Trump, Europe should stop buying Russian energy, but also according to Trump, the US should buy Russian energy, and also according to Trump, Europe should buy Russian energy and give his pals a cut of the profits.
Kushner and Witkoff are not only negotiating with things they do not own or control, they are also negotiating against longstanding Trump administration policy to get Europe to wean itself off of its Russian energy dependence. Fun fact: the original draft of the Graham bill was seen as too punishing toward European allies who had committed to the 2027 phase-out plan. Now here come Jared and Steve with a bright idea to increase that dependency and have the pipelines run through Ukraine. The German insurance industry will absolutely love that. As WSJ notes, this ludicrous proposal faces "resistance" in Europe. Stupidity, among other things, is on the ballot this week. wsj.com/world/europe/u-s-pusβ¦

Who or what gave Kushner and Witkoff the right to negotiate anything involving Europe?

Yes. We had several conversations with President Trump about attacks on refineries.
We said that we cannot simply not respond after Russia attacks our energy infrastructure, after Russia kills our people, after attacks on our electricity, gas refineries and everything.
We said, if you want us not to attack Russia's refineries, then Russia must not attack our energy system.

When Ukrainians were evacuated from Oleshky, they brought not only their own pets, but also animals they managed to rescue along the way. πΎ
Ukrainian volunteers will care for them and find them loving homes.

Our long-range sanctions have targeted the Rostov region. The Kamensky Combine, a Russian defense industry enterprise involved in missile production, was hit.
A Pantsir-S2 system and a command and staff vehicle of the S-400 Triumf system were also hit. The total value of the air defense assets struck is around $70 million.
I thank the warriors of the Security Service of Ukraine @ServiceSsu and other units of the Defense Forces for their accuracy! We are justly defending ourselves against Russian aggression and doing everything to reduce Russiaβs capability to continue it.

In October, the Russian army lost 54,400 troops killed or seriously wounded, its highest monthly toll since the start of the full-scale invasion.
October also set a new daily record: on October 21, Ukraineβs Defense Forces hit 2,250 occupiers.
Thank you to everyone supporting and fighting for Ukraine.

Another barbaric and utterly cynical Russian attack. Russia's brutality knows no limits, and its contempt for human life is beyond any moral justification.
In Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhzhia region, Russian forces struck a school used to distribute humanitarian aid and then attacked a shelter where civilians were hiding from Russian bombs. At least 26 people have been killed. Rescue operations are ongoing.
And yet, even as Russia continues to slaughter innocent Ukrainians, some are looking for ways to return to business as usual with Moscow, as if these atrocities were somehow irrelevant to their decisions.
This includes those in international sport who are discussing welcoming Russian teams back into competition.
What kind of moral bankruptcy does it take to rehabilitate a country that bombs people seeking humanitarian aid? Every Ukrainian civilian murdered by Russia is another reason to keep its flag and its athletes out of international sporting arenas. Those who open the doors to Russia must understand that they are opening them to a state that continues to kill.
Russia deserves condemnation, isolation, and consequences, not a return to international respectability. Its crimes cannot be separated from its flag, its national teams, or its attempts to regain international legitimacy.
I call on our partners to respond with decisive action and reject every attempt to return to business as usual with Russia. No concessions to a state that continues to murder innocent people and no rehabilitation without accountability.

Kallas:Β At G20, Lavrov wasnβt constructive at all. He was saying that Putin will talk to Zelenskyy if he comes to Moscow. This is not the way it is. There are many neutral places where they can meet. If Putin would be serious, he would first stop killing civilians. 1/

An utterly horrific Russian attack on the settlement of Komyshuvakha in the Zaporizhzhia region. Since this morning, the settlement has been hit several times by aerial bombs. The strikes targeted a school used for humanitarian purposes β people were receiving humanitarian aid there. After the first aerial bomb strike, there was a double-tap strike with nine more bombs, specifically targeting the shelter where people were taking cover. Tragically, 18 people have already been reported killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Five people have been injured. A rescue operation is underway at the site, and the search for people continues. It is extremely difficult. Military forces, first responders, and special services are involved.
The Russians could not have been unaware that every week, local residents who had remained in Komyshuvakha received humanitarian aid at that very location. And this is further proof that Russia wants no de-escalation and no real justice. After the humanitarian operation in Oleshky, there was a moment when the next steps could have shown that progress toward peace was possible. With these killings, Russia is sending an entirely opposite signal: Russia is counting on more killings. There must be a response to this β a response from the world. A strong and tough response. A response to Russia. And support for Ukraine. We must protect lives. Thank you to everyone who is helping!
