I always loved cycling past these woody meadow plantings near Royal Park, so lush and colourful. Awesome work @GIRG_Unimelb!

I recorded a podcast for my recent paper in @fireecology journal. It was a fun experience sharing science in a different way - have a listen!
In this new episode of #FireEcology Chats, hear from Tegan Brown @tgn_brown about a study that explored the drivers of seasonal fluctuations in live fuel moisture content. #SNFECO @SpringerEcology fireecology.org/feco-podcast…

Well said @sarahmccg. A great snapshot of where we're at but still so much work to do!👷🏾‍♀️👩‍💻
Amazing keynote by @elsa_pastor on women in wildfire research. Gender balance is slowly improving but at ~32% there is still a long way to go (as the “manel” at the opening of #icffr exemplified). Perhaps there is the need for an open, safe space to discuss practical next steps.

Great presentations (from an unbiased viewer...) from @tgn_brown on her work about canopy structure on fuel moisture content and @drgarysheridan presenting @asinbar work on soil co-evolution #ICFFR

NEW PAPER: Very proud of this one, just don't ask me how many simulation hours it took 😉 We estimated the relative roles of climate-mediated changes on fire weather and fuel load and structure. We applied the framework to six temperate forested landscapes in SE Australia. 1/2

Absolutely delighted for you @sarahmccg! What an achievement given the craziness of the time! One of the best parts of doing a PhD at @SciMelb has been the incredible women I've met along the way 🤗 #WomenInSTEM 🌿👩‍🔬
#PhDone 🌿any PhD is a journey, but add in a global pandemic, months in lockdown, and it makes for a pretty crazy adventure! I have had incredible support from so many people including my amazing supervisors @trentpenman & @BennettRen Happy @WomenScienceDay #womeninSTEM

Stock standard response from my parents to us as kids when we tried to get away with stuff was always "you're not sorry because you keep doing it". Feels like this has some relevance today... #auspol

Great article out in The Conversation today. "Under climate change, living with fire will require a multitude of new solutions and approaches...we must keep planning and investing in fire management and research – even during wet years such as this one." theconversation.com/fire-man…

Forest regeneration funding misses burning issue "Passively allowing nature to take its course will result in further forest loss without active monitoring, management and restoration." theage.com.au/national/victo…

So great to attend (in person🤯) @EcoEmcg's completion seminar today! Congratulations!
Couldn’t be prouder of @EcoEmcg !! Such an amazing presentation of her PhD work looking at #eDNA and it’s application for research into platypuses (🦫🦆😉) and fish (🐟) around SE Australia! #WomenInSTEM #phdlife
