Bad news: the BBC is set to scrap Radio 4 Extra. 📻 Losing this treasure trove of classic comedy, archive drama, and timeless storytelling would be a huge blow for millions of us.

Lend With Care @lendwithcare is a great charity where you can give over and over again with the same money - helping lots of people along the way. Very easy to donate and re-donate

Meet Mackenzie Bly (not his real name; see back cover).
I wanted to write something purely funny, but I fell in love with my lead character along the way.
It's out in August, but the lovely proofs have just arrived.
Retweet before tomorrow (Sun) evening, and I'll pick 2 winners.

For the avoidance of doubt, if you use AI to write a book, you’re not a writer. If you use it to finish your book, you’re a failed writer. If you use it to rewrite a book you’re not happy with, you’re a writer who cheats. Spell-checking? Absolutely fine. But no, being able to tell AI that you had a great idea about a dragon, a sushi restaurant and a cowboy-prince, and getting it to generate your story doesn’t make you a writer. It makes you someone who likes having silly fun with AI. And that’s fine too. But no, you’re not a writer.
Just giving this another try in case anyone recognises it! #forgotten80s
Does anyone know what this song/group is? I recorded it off the radio in late 80s/early 90s and have just rediscovered the tape. It was a mystery then and remains one now 30+ years on! Shazam doesn't recognise it #forgotten80s
Writers, is there a way to get fake UK car reg numbers for use in film/TV/books? I know where to go for phone numbers, but can't find a car equivalent. Don't want to implicate a real car in a fictional murder 😵💫

So sad to see MTV shut down in the UK - my first ever 'proper' job and years of fun, friends and parties galore

Message from Afghan woman
Please read and share:-
Life for a woman in Afghanistan is beyond belief. Many people may not know what happens outside the home — but what happens inside, behind closed doors, is even worse.
We are forced to endure abuse from both husbands and mothers-in-law. I cook, clean, and wash all day, but I’m still mistreated. My husband beats me.
Once, my mother-in-law told him that I was secretly studying on my phone — and he took my phone away. I feel completely trapped.
Sometimes I think about ending my life, but when I look at my little daughter, I stop — for her. Still, I feel powerless.
Yet whenever my husband is not home, I study in secret.
I want to share my voice with the world.
Please read my message, support me, and be the voice for Afghan women.
