These violent settlers are still besieging this Palestinian family home - *one month* after they first set themselves up outside Yousef Shanaran’s front door… the Israeli army still not forcing them out the area
A new Israeli govt could be formed fairly soon - led by Gadi Eisenkot who has promised to crack down on settler violence (even though he supports settlement expansion - deemed illegal internationally)
For now, high levels of attacks still continuing
This is the moment Channel 4 News Foreign Affairs Correspondent Secunder Kermani was charged at by a group of Israeli settlers in the Occupied West Bank.
The settlers have laid siege to a Palestinian home, while nearby Israeli soldiers keep watch but do not intervene.
Violent attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank have risen dramatically over the past two years, while Israel's government has approved a record number of new settlements.

This is the worst morning ever. No one in Gaza City slept last night. The rain completely flooded the tents, soaking mattresses and destroying families' belongings. We are underwater.
Thousands of families have been trying for hours to save what little they have left, with nowhere dry to go.

A tribute from one of Joshua Wong’s closest colleagues and friend @nathanlawkc as he’s sentenced to an extra ten years behind bars for his role in the ‘umbrella democracy movement’ in Hong Kong. ‘…his name has already been written into history as one of the bravest activists to stand up against one of the world's most powerful autocracies’
Beyond the U.S. election results, there's something else you should care about:
My friend Joshua Wong has been sentenced to another 10 years in prison for his peaceful advocacy of democracy in Hong Kong.
He's been behind bars for over 2,100 days. When the police knocked on his door, Biden had just been elected, the iPhone 12 was brand new, and OpenAI had only recently launched the GPT-3 API for developers. He has not walked free since November 2020.
—
In 2016, I was elected as the youngest member of the legislature in Hong Kong. Joshua led the election campaign and worked 18 hours a day. I promised Joshua that we'd form a caucus together in the next term, in 2020, when he'd be old enough to run.
It turned out to be the last time Hong Kong held a Legislative Council election in which a genuine political opposition could compete (though only around half the seats were electable). Beijing later imposed an election reform to make Hong Kong's election more like Iran's.
Since 2020, the Chinese regime has dismantled Hong Kong's civil society and cracked down on political dissent. Nearly two thousand people have been imprisoned on political grounds. Many others have left the city to seek refuge elsewhere. I fled and was granted asylum in the UK.
Joshua is expected to leave prison at 40, after 16 years in jail. Some say he’s naive or reckless; I fiercely disagree. He's one of the most strategic, persistent and risk-taking people I know. He might well have become an amazing entrepreneur if he'd been born elsewhere.
He’s brave enough to do something most wouldn’t: risking his freedom to stand up for what’s true and right. I am so humbled by his dedication, and proud to call him my dear friend.
When I left Hong Kong, I had no idea that we wouldn't be able to speak for nearly six years. Now, plus ten. When you're young, and work is so intense and busy, you never think to take time to chat. When you're young, and work is so intense and busy, you don't always think to make time just to get together. When people asked me what I regretted most, I often said I hadn't spent enough time simply hanging out with the brilliant people around me. I still feel that loss deeply.
I wish I could see him as soon as possible. Joshua should be released immediately.
—
If you don’t know who Joshua is, I suggest you turn on Netflix and search for his name. No matter how long the authoritarian Chinese regime keeps him imprisoned, his name has already been written into history as one of the bravest activists to stand up against one of the world's most powerful autocracies. Even behind bars, he continues to demonstrate extraordinary courage.

Rain and thunder have been falling for the past hour. According to the weather forecast, clouds carrying large amounts of rain are heading towards the Gaza Strip, amid warnings of flash floods. May God help the residents of the tents.

💔 The rain flooded our tent, soaking my children’s bedding and clothes. They cry in fear and cold while I struggle to protect them. I beg you, help me provide a safe shelter where my children can sleep dry and warm. Please stand with us. 🙏❤️

What the Telegraph can’t get its German head around is no one in the U.K. ever had any kind of plan to make Brexit work… the U.K. going into the EU had been meticulously planned, and, up until 2016, had been working out very well indeed for us all.
‘Your solidarity is our only lifeline.’
How do you measure pain when you have fled death 16 times? 💔 My daughter Lana speaks for seven children who lost their youth, their home, and their safety. We live trapped inside a fragile nylon tent where daytime heat turns into a suffocating, rat-infested nightmare by night. 🐀🦟
My husband’s shrapnel injuries leave him helpless to fetch water, and my children are covered in a spreading skin rash with zero access to soothing creams or ointments. My infant baby girl knows nothing of this world, completely unaware of the missing asthma medication and basic diapers she desperately needs. 🆘 We lack clean water to drink and basic food to shield their small bodies after a full year in worn-out rags.
Every single day, I fight a silent war to keep my nine-member family alive. Your solidarity is our only lifeline. Please share, quote, or donate—help us survive before it is too late. 🙏🇵🇸

We are only asking for a little help to secure food and repair our tent before winter becomes even harder.
Please, if you can, remember us once again. Your support or even sharing our story could make a real difference. ❤️🩹

Of course he did. Palantir hired Tom Watson to schmooze his old pals. And he did.
There is no world in which Palantir helps boost "the UK's tech sovereignty". We need to know exactly how @YvetteCooperMP made this decision, based on what evidence & what data?
Palantir’s Tom Watson, ex-Labour MP, wrote to Yvette Cooper last month saying the controversial US company could help boost the UK’s tech sovereignty, letters show. Weeks later, sources say the UK is extending its NHS contract for two more years

Is this abuse by a barrister acceptable or does it breach professional standards?
If it is unacceptable, what will the profession do about it?
Or if it’s acceptable, why?

‘I still believe there are kind hearts out there who will hear us.’
I honestly don't know what else to say anymore. I've been asking for help for so long, sharing my family's struggles and hoping that someone would hear us, but sadly, no one has responded.
It's heartbreaking to keep asking for help and feel like your words are reaching no one. I'm not asking for much. I just want to provide my family with the basic things they need.
Winter is getting closer, our clothes are worn out after nearly three years of war, and I still haven't been able to raise the $400 needed to buy winter clothes for my family of 16.
I feel disappointed and exhausted, but I haven't lost faith in humanity. I still believe there are kind hearts out there who will hear us.
Please don't let my family's need go unheard. 💔🇵🇸
