People that JAPA through self sponsorship without scholarship aid, how did you guys raise the cash at hand required for the relocation process 🙏 Self sponsorship in this sense is that you raised the funds without the support of anyone

Ẹwà (Aesthetics)  In Ifá, aesthetics is deeply tied to spirituality, ethics and the Yoruba worldview, emphasising the harmonious interplay between beauty, functionality, and moral order.  Unlike Western conceptions of aesthetics that often separate beauty from other domains, Ifá integrates aesthetics into a holistic framework that aligns with both cosmic and human values. Key Concepts of Aesthetics in Ifá 1. Beauty as Good Character (Ìwàpẹ̀lẹ́) Beauty in Ifá is inseparable from Ìwàpẹ̀lẹ́, or good character. A person, object or action is considered beautiful if it reflects moral goodness, balance, and alignment with divine principles. External beauty (ẹwà-òde) is valued, but it is incomplete without inner beauty (ẹwà-inú), which stems from one’s character and connection to the divine. 2. Art and Symbolism Yoruba art, informed by Ifá, prioritises symbolic meaning over mere appearance. Sculptures, masks and carvings often embody spiritual truths, mythological stories or moral lessons. The beauty of these creations lies not only in their form but in their ability to convey profound metaphysical ideas and evoke spiritual experiences. 3. Òrìṣà and Aesthetic Expression Each Òrìṣà (deity) has distinct aesthetic preferences, influencing art, music, dance, and attire. For example: Ọ̀ṣun (Òrìṣà of love, fertility and beauty): Associated with flowing water, gold and white apparel with intricate designs. Ṣàngó (Òrìṣà of thunder): Linked to bold patterns especially in red colour, and dramatic dance forms. Worship and rituals often incorporate these aesthetic elements to honour the Òrìṣà and establish a connection with the divine. 4. Music and Oral Tradition Music and poetry are central to Ifá’s aesthetic philosophy. Drumming, chanting, and singing are not merely artistic expressions but serve as tools for storytelling, divination and invoking spiritual energies. The rhythm of the drum and the cadence of Ifá verses (odù Ifá) are considered aesthetically beautiful because they mirror the rhythm of life and the cosmos. 5. The Role of Nature Nature is a primary source of beauty in Ifá, reflecting the divine order of the universe. Rivers, forests, mountains and animals are celebrated for their intrinsic and spiritual beauty. Natural materials, like beads, cowries and wood are used in creating aesthetically significant objects that also hold spiritual essence. 6. Utility and Aesthetics Beauty is closely linked to utility in Ifá. Objects and rituals are designed not just to please the senses but to serve a purpose, whether spiritual, moral or practical. 7. Balance and Proportion The Yoruba aesthetic ideal emphasises balance, symmetry, and proportion, both in art and in life. These qualities reflect cosmic order (ìwàlétòlétò àgbáyé), which Ifá teachings strive to maintain. Summary In Ifá, aesthetics transcends mere sensory pleasure to encompass spiritual harmony, ethical values, and functional purpose. Beauty is seen as a reflection of divine order and is deeply connected to how individuals and communities live in alignment with their destiny, the Òrìṣà, and the cosmos. Through this lens, art, music, and rituals are not only beautiful but also meaningful and transformative.
