Pakistan and DFINITY are back at the table, this time over AI
Pakistan Digital Authority (@digitalauthpk) chair Dr. Sohail Munir (@sohailmunir) met in Dubai today with @dfinity founder Dominic Williams (@dominic_w) and business chief Pierre Samaties (@PierreSamaties). They discussed setting up a sovereign AI factory to build software for Pakistan’s public sector and deploy it on the PDA Cloud Engine. Williams said the talks also covered the next phases of that Internet Computer ($ICP) cloud engine.
It is the second meeting between the two this year. In February they signed a non-binding agreement for a Pakistan subnet on the Internet Computer, with 1,500 licenses for DFINITY’s AI coding tool Caffeine. In August, the UN Development Program and DFINITY launched a sovereign AI pilot for five countries, building on the Pakistan work.

This marks the second high-level engagement between PDA and DFINITY this year, building on their earlier meeting, which culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The initial collaboration also laid the groundwork for a significant international milestone: UNDP’s adoption of Pakistan’s sovereign Cloud Engines model, reinforcing Pakistan’s emerging role in sovereign digital infrastructure and government-led technological innovation.

Some of the core capabilities Pakistan's master plan needed were already built into the Internet Computer's architecture, guardrails around data and protection included.
Which is why Dr. Sohail Munir says the infrastructure and the reference architecture were the easy part. The thinking went into governance, and that is what he wants to pass on to the governments that follow.

By that logic, $NEAR runs every contract on WebAssembly, co-designed and spec'd by Andreas Rossberg, who also led V8 for Chrome, then spent years at @dfinity building $ICP.

ICP’s OpenChat Makes Cross Platform Chatting Easier
Internet Computer (@dfinity) $ICP -based, OpenChat (@OpenChat), now lets Discord (@discord) and Telegram (@telegram) communities relay messages directly into its decentralized chat app.
The feature relays messages between those platforms and OpenChat. Users connect their accounts through a new “Linked accounts” section in their profiles.
After linking their accounts, messages appear in OpenChat under their own identities.
The update could make it easier for decentralized communities to reach people who still use mainstream chat apps.

Cloud Engines are Internet Computer subnets that firms configure under ICP's on-chain governance.

There are some slight inaccuracies in this post (not saying it's intentional):
1. $ICP 30-day revenue is close to $400k as per @chainspect_app (not $183k)
2. $NEAR did build its cross-chain signing product on unlicensed @dfinity tech
3. There's 287 million total ICP staked (not 243 million)
ICP has massively reduced inflation via #Mission70 earlier this year and network usage is climbing.
Combine that with the recent partnerships between DFINITY x Pakistan & DFINITY x UNDP, and the future is looking pretty good imo
It's always better to triple check before posting something that could be interpreted as facts
ICP burned $183,000 in fees last month. Its market cap is $1,500,000,000.
