25 OCTOBER - BALACLAVA DAY: THE THIN RED LINE 🇬🇧🏴
On this day in 1854, the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders stood firm against advancing Russian cavalry at Balaclava, Crimea. Outnumbered and exposed, these Scottish soldiers held their nerve in one of the most celebrated acts of courage in British military history.
Their commander, Sir Colin Campbell, gave the immortal order:
⚔️ “There is no retreat from here, men. You must die where you stand!”
Sir Colin's aide John Scott is said to have replied, "Aye, Sir Colin. If needs be, we'll do that."
Their disciplined volleys broke the Russian advance, protecting the British base at Balaclava.
War correspondent William Howard Russell described the sight as a “thin red streak tipped with a line of steel” - giving birth to the legendary name, The Thin Red Line.
Today, we honour the courage, discipline, and sacrifice of those soldiers whose actions became part of our shared British military heritage.
Remember the 93rd. Remember Balaclava. Remember the Thin Red Line.
Scotland’s courage. Britain’s history.
Never forgotten.

Orktober is ending, and Brother Montoya of the Crimson Fist knows it. So here's his special goodbye to one of the boyz. The Ork metals are painted with true metallic, and the Captain with a non-metallic, heretic mix!

St Crispin's Day - which means it's #Agincourt time! OTD at Azincourt in 1415, forces under Henry V scored an unexpected victory against the French, an event made ever-famous by Mr Wm. Shakespeare. Noteworthy was the rapid fire of his archers, the machine-gunners of their day.

Curled up last night during Storm Adolf with this, which I read in a single sitting. My 2nd foray into highly recommended Edward Marston, aka Conrad Allen. They are light but page-turning, & in neither case did I spot the murderer until the denouement. Pub. by @AllisonandBusby

Hey friends! Here are some of the processes I followed while painting this Scythe of the Emperor. I think the blue/yellow color combination works great; I've also done it on the teleport beacon.
Hope you find it usefull!

The petition has crossed 125,000 signatures! Well done! And before you ask, yes, this does have an impact. It proves to Amazon/MGM that we are still here and still waiting for a new show that will honor the Five Pillars of Stargate.
If you haven't signed the petition yet, now is a great time! If you have signed the petition, thank you! You are making a difference.
