Yes, except the U.S. has been asking Ukraine to stop hitting oil refineries for weeks (it was even reported in the WSJ that Ukraine had agreed to do so until after the midterms) and yet Kyiv just blew up one at Novokuybyshevsk. I'd be very surprised indeed if the Baltic states "toned down" their rhetoric on Russia because Bridge Colby asked them to. Meanwhile, Trump can't find a buyer for Russian diesel en route to these shores because Congress keeps threatening to prosecute anyone who volunteers. And the New York Times says he is seething in the White House, awaiting electoral doom in five days and consuming bad poll numbers and "AI slop."

So, what do we know about Oleshky at this point?
The delegations participating in the humanitarian mission, along with the media crews, have already left the city.
Regarding media presence: There were two Ukrainian TV channels (1+1 and ICTV), only one American news crew from Newsmax, and a bunch of russian propagandists.
Regarding humanitarian representatives: There were only Ukrainians and russians, with no independent international organizations such as the UN, OSCE, or Red Cross present.
Interestingly, despite numerous statements claiming that Americans played a role in brokering the ceasefire, no American officials had the guts to show up and help facilitate the process.
Before traveling to Oleshky, the Ukrainian delegation met with American journalists in Crimea. The American journalists were also required to travel there via Moscow.
The fate of the evacuated civilians remains unclear, particularly whether they will be allowed to return to Ukrainian-controlled territory.
Many residents also decided to remain in the city.
There is also growing concern that russians are using the evacuation from Oleshky to strengthen their military positions and prepare to launch an offensive against Kherson.

The number of people injured in the Russian strike on a university campus and the surrounding area yesterday evening has risen to 12. Five of them are students and university staff. While emergency services were helping people and dealing with the aftermath of the first strike, the Russians used ballistic missiles again. In total, 16 ballistic missiles were launched overnight. More than 280 drones as well. Tragically, there have been casualties and hits in Kyiv, including on the South Bridge. A serious escalation in Russia’s operation against our logistics. There were also strikes on the Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, Chernihiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Kherson, and Chernivtsi regions. Almost everywhere, Russia’s targets were the energy sector, logistics, and ordinary urban infrastructure.

At 6pm turnout was 9% higher than it was in 2022. If this remains the trend until voting ends, it could upend the pollsters predictions in various ways. An 80% turnout puts small parties at threshold risk. Which small parties? Probably not Raam, which are boosted by a rise in Arab turnout and probably not the Haredi parties who have a relatively stable base. But Lieberman is at risk. And so are Smotrich and Ben-Gvir, who are also vulnerable to a last-minute shift of coalition voters to Netanyahu.
