NEW: A Washington high school sophomore walked off the starting line alone at a district cross-country championship Wednesday rather than compete against a boy, sacrificing her opportunity to advance in the postseason.
According to Matt Calkins at Outkick, Elise Bierer, a Battle Ground High School runner, turned away from the course after the starting gun sounded at the October 21 Greater St. Helens League District Meet in Camas.
She walked toward her mother, Sheona, who embraced her tearful daughter.
Bierer had also declined to compete during Battle Ground’s October 13 dual meet against Camas. Wednesday’s district championship carried greater consequences: walking away ended her season.
Her mother alleged that Elise and other Battle Ground girls who objected to competing against the male athlete were pressured to enter the JV race instead. According to her account, that would preserve the varsity team’s chances of finishing among the three teams advancing to the next qualifying meet.
Elise believed she had earned her varsity position. Her mother said other girls initially planned to walk off alongside her, but those plans changed before the race.
Battle Ground had only five varsity entrants, while the other three schools had seven each, OutKick reported. Elise’s withdrawal left Battle Ground without the five finishers required to record a team score. Individual results remained separate: Battle Ground’s Sophia Rogers won the girls’ race.
Sheona said her daughter did not tell coach Patricia Tester about her plan because she feared being moved to JV.
The protest came as Camas High School’s Logan Mihailoff, who began the season ranked 76th while competing in boys’ junior varsity, finished second in the girls’ championship race, propelling Camas into first place.

Seattle Judge Veronica Galvin, the most notorious judge in WA, possibly one of the most dangerous judges, because, for as long as I can remember, this social justice activist has been releasing dangerous criminals.
Yesterday, she released the Bite of Seattle shooting suspect

The income tax is suicide for WA's economy
I don't think the Democrats are gonna realize what they did until their donations shrink because their donors have moved out of state.
Businesses & nonprofits know the income tax is going to cause their donors & customers to move
It sounds like the anti-Israel groups would rather have something to protest or sue over, rather than actually have the lecture.
BREAKING: After Tulane University told anti-Israel student groups that they couldn't host this on-campus event that accuses Israel of weaponizing infectious diseases in Gaza, but that they could continue to live-stream it, the groups have postponed tonight's lecture.
My take: The anti-Israel groups would rather have something to protest or sue for than actually stream the lecture.
The school faced massive backlash for hosting the lecture by a Columbia University associate professor which brings back one of the oldest forms of Jew-hatred; accusing Jews of spreading the plague and poisoning wells, used to justify mass murder of Jews and pogroms across Europe. Everything old is new again.
I won't be posting the video of the boy on the Camas High School girls' cross country team coming in second & propeling his team to a win
I don't wanna be responsible for one of the girls seeing it and having to relive losing a place at state because that boy cheated
Some of you will say put it out there so we can shame him. You know who we should be shaming?”
All the Democrats who won't stand up for girls' sports, who put these girls in that position.
Democrats are creating a generation of conservative voters because these girls will remember what you did to them
