In Kenya, we are seeing more and more people in their 30s and 40s - breadwinners and parents - suffering from strokes. It is now a leading cause of permanent disability and accounts for about 1 in every 15 deaths in our country.
When a stroke hits, every minute wasted is a piece of someone's future lost. Itโs not just "fatigue" or "bad luck" โ itโs a medical emergency that requires immediate action.

You donโt need to be a doctor to save a life. Just look for these sudden changes:
B - BALANCE: Are they staggering or suddenly dizzy?
E - EYES: Is their vision suddenly blurry or "dark" in one eye?
F - FACE: Ask them to smile. Does one side of the mouth hang down?
A - ARMS: Ask them to lift both hands. Does one side keep falling?
S - SPEECH: Are they "heavy-tongued" or talking like they are drunk?
T - TIME: Don't wait for them to "rest and feel better." Call for help now.
High blood pressure (Hypertension) is behind 77% of strokes in Kenya. Many of us donโt check our "pressure" until itโs too late.
๐ป๐๐ "๐ฎ๐๐๐
๐๐ ๐ฏ๐๐๐": If you get them to a hospital within 3 hours, the chance of them walking and talking again is much higher.
๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ป๐๐๐: If you can, call an ambulance. They can call the hospital ahead of time so the doctors are waiting at the door.
Don't ignore the signs. A stroke doesn't fix itself with sleep.

On #WorldFirstAidDay2026, The QuickFix Learning Hub joins the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to highlight a critical reality: *First Aid in Migration Contexts.*
Across Kenya and East Africa, thousands of people are on the move every day - from families displaced by severe drought and flash floods in Northern Kenya, to transit workers, everyday travelers, and migrants navigating urban hubs like Nairobi and transit corridors across Kakuma, Garissa, and Busia.
Along these journeys, extreme heat exhaustion, severe dehydration, traumatic road casualties, and psychological strain are daily realities. Every second counts, and every person can be a lifesaver.

I've always had an issue with mkokoteni being on highways. This is exactly why.
Look at this stupid accident caused by a mkokoteni. Slow-moving, poorly visible carts have no business mixing with fast-moving highway traffic.
We need to seriously rethink this before more lives are lost.

It's World Humanitarian Day.
Health care is #NotATarget.
Health workers are #NotATarget.
Patients are #NotATarget.
Hospitals are #NotATarget.
Aid workers are #NotATarget.
When health care is attacked, entire communities suffer. This #WorldHumanitarianDay, WHO calls on all parties in conflict to protect health care and ensure safe access to essential services, free from violence and fear.
