🗳️ FLORIDA RECOUNT: Republican Rep. María Elvira Salazar leads Democrat Eliott Rodriguez by just 1,090 votes (0.44%) in Florida's 27th Congressional District, triggering an automatic machine recount that begins Tuesday. Results are due Thursday, Nov. 12. 🔹Salazar chairs the House Foreign Affairs subcommittee on Latin America and is one of Congress's loudest defenders of the US embargo and pressure campaign on Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua. That includes the Trump administration's fuel blockade, which has plunged Cuba's nearly 10 million people into devastating blackouts and shortages. 🔹Rodriguez has filed a federal lawsuit seeking to remove Miami-Dade Elections Supervisor Alina García from the canvassing board, alleging close ties to Salazar and noting that García's son-in-law, attorney Robert Fernandez, is representing Salazar in the recount. Fernandez says "there is no conflict of interest here." More below ⬇️
Eliot Rodriguez has demanded that Miami-Dads Secretary of Elections Alina Garcia recuse herself in the Maria Salazar recount. She’s also in charge of counting the votes in the Mario Diaz-Balart/Nicole Locklin race. She’s now been caught on audio saying the SOE has the power to count some votes but not others, while referring dismissively to the local Black neighborhoods. Her son-in-law works for Maria Salazar. Daughter seems to also. She has also said Salazar is the winner “with or without the recount.” Miami-Dade is also where a tech glitch stripped about 3,000 votes from Locklin. These numbers are going up, by the way: A Democratic House staffer told me their office got nearly 800 calls about Jeffries on Friday alone. Most of the staffers I'm talking to describe this as the most call volume they've ever experienced. axios.com/2026/11/06/jeffrie…

Ahead of MAGA’s midterm rout, Trump complained about his presidency. He felt stuck. The war in Iran wouldn’t end. Inflation wouldn’t fade. Little was going his way But in Trump’s mind, there was one exception: “Stephen is the only one who gets stuff done” theatlantic.com/politics/202…

Salazar leads by 1,090 votes, and a recount is set for Tuesday. Garcia and her son-in-law both deny that a conflict of interest exists. Read more at the link in our bio.
