Learn something valuable every day! Can you spot the mistake why this ESP32-S3 pen drive wouldn't power up? Hint 1: The first photo of the PCB reveals the brute force fix. Hint 2: the RPi4 designers initially made a similar mistake like me 😀

The ePulse Feather is running for 32 days from a 2.5Ah LiPo battery. Sending a message over ESPNow every 20 seconds. 137'000 messages sent and the battery is still at 3.59V! 🤓 We take your bets now how long it will last!

I extended the web test tool for ESP32. You can now use your own firmware which is stored only locally in the browser. I also linked an example firmware project which creates the test report. The webtool will be open sourced, but it's not ready just yet. iot-flasher.thingpulse.com/

Before we ship new hardware it needs to be tested. This web based tool flashes a test firmware onto the #esp32 , restarts it and evaluates the test reports received over the serial port. Only the driver needs to be installed, sometimes not even that. #epulsefeather @thingpulse

Running some more tests on the #ESP32 ePulse Feather board: wakeup, connect wifi, measure battery voltage, push to mqtt, sleep for 15min, repeat. @QoitechWorld otii predicts 1.6 years from a 2.5Ah LiPo battery. But what is realistic self discharge rate? thingpulse.com/product/epuls…

TIL: you can just buy high density (128MB - 1GB) flash chips that operate just like a SD card! Neat!

This would have been ideal storage solution for my GPS dataloggers, which used SD cards internally, but just presented to a PC as a USB flash disk.
