Human connection is impossible without some vulnerability. To be understood, you have to reveal something about yourself. To feel cared for, you have to let someone know what matters to you. Both give them an opportunity to hurt or disappoint you. You can choose whom you trust and how much you share, but you cannot be fully known while keeping everything that could hurt you hidden.
