The climate crisis threatens us all. We have power. Why not ask your bank/ pension/energy provider where they are investing your money? Probably things that make the climate crisis worse! If so then move your money and tell them why. switchit.green/about-switchi… You can do something!

Imagine you are 21 years old. You have played eight first-class matches in your life. You did not even have a passport a week ago.
Then you land in England.
Your first over averages 89.7mph. Every single delivery of that over is quicker than every other ball any Pakistan bowler has sent down on this entire tour. You trap the greatest Test batter England has produced before you have conceded a single run in Test cricket. You finish with four wickets.
Then you come back with the bat, score 81 from the bottom of the order in a day, and end up as the second-highest run scorer of the side. You break the record for the most sixes by a debutant in Test history. And you play an innings that wakes up an entire ground, and an entire country, in the space of a couple of hours.
That is where you tell the world that Pakistan has never had a shortage of talent. Only a shortage of people willing to look for it.
What a story. What an absolute beauty of a Test cricket session.

This may be the only New Year’s resolution I keep this year!
Don’t forget to recycle your mince pie casings! 🥧 These little aluminium cases can be melted down and reused so their precious resource doesn't go to waste. Millions are binned every Christmas — let’s change that and have a #WasteLessChristmas. @DefraGovUK

I have been verbally abused twice on the way to football matches so far this season. On both occasions I was minding my own business, head down, walking to the ground. I was called 'a fucking queer cunt' by one man and another told me that 'our club doesn't want disgusting gay fans'. If you're a player and that offends you less than wearing a rainbow-coloured armband for a couple of matches, then maybe you're part of the problem.

Definitely the all time tackiest reason to destroy exquisite habitat for red listed species including turtle doves, water voles & lizard orchids. Not for housing, nor food - a fake surf lagoon not far from the actual sea.

Call to action if you live in Wales! Please consider signing this petition to get Swift Bricks in legislation as a requirement for all new buildings in Wales. It would be amazing to get this to 10,000 signatures as then it will be debated in the Senedd

Swifts need your help in so many ways. This is the easiest right now: sign and share especially if you’re in #Wales (but anyone can sign) It only needs just less than 700 signatures but hurry as deadline approaching petitions.senedd.wales/petit… 🪶📷: Robert Booth

No matter what you call it, it’s outdoor PLASTIC carpet…

Very sad news - Tony Soper, a huge influence on generations of birders and broadcasters, who I had the huge privilege of working with and getting to know, has died aged 95. The last person who was there at the start of the BBC Natural History Unit. A lovely man.

Excellent insights David! Did you know that car clubs like us help to get cars off the road? Each car club vehicle in the UK takes on average, 32 private cars off our roads. Our members are way more likely to make sustainable travel decisions, opting for buses, walking and cycling and only using cars for those necessary trips 👏

The chronic overgrazing of Dartmoor, one of our most precious landscapes, by a tiny number of heavily subsidised, hereditary rights holders, is a national disgrace. I’m delighted that @WildJustice_org is bringing a legal challenge on this totemic issue. wildjustice.org.uk/general/w…

Remember, Paris wasn’t “always this way.”
It wasn’t even this way in late 2019 when I was last there.
Just a few years ago, #Paris was choking in car traffic much more.
This is new. This is leadership.
Cities are a result of choices.

True professionalism from assistant manager Steve Holland as Watkins goal went in. Immediately tells Southgate to sort out the substitutes to tighten things up for the final two minutes. No time for celebrations.

I’ve been sent photos of council weed spraying in Moseley. I will email these to @CllrMajid It is of immense frustration that almost two years since @BeeFriendlyBrum submitted their 97,000 signature petition to @BhamCityCouncil against use of pesticides nothing has changed.
