On Monday night, with the glass still being swept up from the latest événements, French viewers were offered a spectacle almost as compelling as the riots.
A young, blonde, radical left-wing woman appeared on Franceâs La Grande Confrontation TV show and gave a performance mixing, in equal parts, conviction, narcissism, privilege, contempt and, at best, a highly selective grasp of history. And all delivered from a face of transfixing beauty.
Her name is Lola-Fleur Whittaker. She is 23, and a Sciences Po student who stood for MĂ©lenchonâs La France Insoumise in the Paris municipals this spring.
Facing shopkeepers in the TV studio, whose premises had been looted, she excused the rioters and condescendingly explained to the traders: âVos boutiques, câest bien mignon.â Literally: oh your shops, how sweet.

The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. And it proves just how eye-poppingly corrupt this administration was and continues to be as its "special envoy" decides the fate of tens of millions in Europe in the Middle East. Simply incredible reporting by Matthew Cole, drawn from his new book on Kushner. vanityfair.com/story/jared-kâŠ

This is an abominable tweet. She is *criticizing* these decent men and women for coming together to repel the marauders and protect their cityâs shops. But these are exactly the kinds of citizens healthy societies cannot function without.

Graphic footage, with little narration, from major French TV channel of the appalling violence, destruction, anarchy in the centre of Paris last Saturday. Worth watching from beginning to end.
The French Left/Unions demanding resignations at the channel because it only depicts violence and doesnât provide âcontextâ!

Il faut réaliser ce que cela signifie. Les syndicats censés défendre notre métier (il a fallu prendre des risques pour filmer ces images) et nos conditions de travail sont devenus des outils de censure et de pression politique.

The irony of course is that the majority of the international art world sympathizes with it not explicitly supports the protesters and their causes, but it doesnât matter. No on can have anything in the context of such nihilism. People need to wake up, France has no future without its cultural capital.

SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even âday afterâ scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

Of all the things that have been hardest to communicate in my life, this seems the most impossible: that our civilisation is not, by some law of nature, immortal. It has no right or likelihood to continue existing if it insists on committing harakiri.
The people who are welcomed onto our airwaves, work in parts of our government and lead some of our political parties include those who would burn down this country in a heart-beat. They would look us in the eyes and kill us. And we know that because they have done it elsewhere.
They don't do it at the moment because the time is not right. But when they feel it is, they will act. At which point I suppose people will have to decide whether they wish to be spectators at their own funeral pyre or not.

Paris authorities cleaned graffiti from the statue at Place de la Republique on Wednesday following a weekend of protests and riots that prompted authorities to impose an overnight curfew in multiple Paris neighborhoods. The cleanup has sparked calls to leave the graffiti in place longer as a visible reminder of the unrest, which comes six months before France's next presidential election and against a backdrop of economic weakness and surging public debt.
