There was this big wave of tech people last year who kept posting "AI won't replace jobs, it'll create jobs!"
But that completely leaves out the transitionary period where old jobs are replaced by AI and new jobs aren't created yet
In the Industrial Revolution that took 50 to 80 years!
Time goes faster now, so with AI that could take 10 to 20 years of a rough ride for many

just compared 18 places to build a startup.
France ranks 17th 😬
with €100K profit, you get:
Dubai: €99,187
Singapore: €91,796
Zug: €85,514
Lisbon: €71,488
San Francisco: €67,183
Paris: €58,757
in France the debate is always the same:
"with this tax, will the millionaires leave?"
I think it's the wrong debate.
the millionaires will be fine.
the real question is where the next generation of talented 25-year-olds will build their products.
they go everywhere they want
no strings attached
I'm French and I'm staying
but I want France to be the place founders move to
made a free tool so you can run your own numbers
👉 should i be leavingfrance.com ???
Just a day later and now Javier Milei is offering full Argentinean citizenship with residence and passport for $350,000
Countries will keep plucking out the high skilled and wealthy from around the world for better conditions elsewhere
Which is easier than ever especially in Europe
This isn't new of course, this is what the US, Canada, South America and Australia did for centuries to attract people
It's why there's Dutch dairy farmers all over the world because many got poached in 1950 after WW2 to migrate elsewhere (and often get free or cheap land to farm on)

🚨 MILTON FRIEDMAN (1978): Young lawyer asked Milton about when it is okay for a Govt to force a free citizen to act.
Did you get the nuance in Milton's question about the difference between "society" and "govt"...
Do you think a man should be free to sin?

It is an insanely bad, catastrophic PR nightmare. Perception is everything, and perception is built through tiny details. Every awkward sentence, every careless demo, every answer that shows how little you understand what people are actually afraid of.
The fact that we’re getting AI from guys who cannot tell a coherent story about it is a much bigger catastrophe than anyone realizes right now. You cannot tell humanity that you’re about to change everything and then act surprised when humanity wants a better explanation. When you leave a vacuum where meaning should be, fear fills it.
Storytelling forces you to answer a question that technical progress allows you to postpone: what is all of this actually for? If your only answer is “look what it can do,” you haven’t finished thinking.
Oh, I don’t think I’ve ever felt the loss of Steve Jobs more deeply than I do now.

my plans are literally measured in decades
and i am more bullish on pre-AI-age art NFTs than any other asset class over the next 5-15 years

Mark my words if ethereum:native survives, Chromie Squiggles by @ArtOnBlockchain will become one of the most desirable nft collections, yes more valuable than your damn house

Refik is one of the most amazing artists in the world!
They said photography wasn’t art.
They said cinema wasn’t art.
They said video games weren’t art.
Now they say AI arts/digital art isn’t art.
I’ve spent over a decade with my studio team turning millions of data points into living, breathing artwork experiences ethically — at MoMA, at the Guggenheim, at the Venice Biennale. Not because a machine told me what to create, but because I had a vision that no traditional tool could realize.
Denying all AI technologies as an artistic medium doesn’t protect art. It limits it. The artists who embrace new tools don’t replace the old masters — they join them.
Art is not defined by the brush. It’s defined by the intention, the emotion, and the courage to see the world differently.
