This sounds so obvious but apparently it's not: "I couldn't be expected to know/do this — I haven't spent enough time learning/practicing it yet!" is how you throw off the insecurity baggage that weighs most people down when they want to git gud at something.
As I walked on my way, a house barked at me, sternly yet obnoxiously cheerfully: "Hello! You are being recorded." My first thought was "material for contemporary dystopian poetry." My second thought was, "and so it goes for all who age — the world is ending."
My ethos is to take everything in earnest and good faith, and my project is to avoid the Myshkin outcome.
A loved one said I was intense/frantic about What Is Coming, and I explained that they only think that because *they* would be feeling intense/frantic if they were saying these things, but actually I am quite calm because I reasoned my way into understanding this a long time ago.

Compassion comes only through a particular form of suffering that I wouldn't wish on anyone, and yet I wish for others to find more compassion every day. Curious.
When I took a BlueDot course in early 2025, my instructor told me he was doing mechinterp research to isolate "bad" (tl;dr) neurons, and (I'm probably getting this technically wrong) delete them if needed. This made the question of LLM consciousness much more salient for me.
