NYC friends, I'm coming back! August 9–September 4. I'm excited to spend real time in the city again. Who's around? I'd love to catch up. 🗽

The US has a ban on foreign owned media for very valid national security reasons... if it wasn't clear before, it should be crystal clear now that there should be no loophole in that for "social" media -- this is a critical national security issue / not about politics.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The US does not ban foreign-owned media. FCC regulations allow up to 100% foreign ownership of broadcasters after review. No such restrictions apply to cable or internet media. Multiple foreign media companies, including RT and Al Jazeera, operate in the US.

I sat down with @aweissman to talk about AI-native media in "Hallucinations", a new AI-powered podcast
the 1st part of our show is always a real interview.
the 2nd part is entirely AI, with @heyglif powering the content + ElevenLabs the voice clones
exciting, scary - and fun:

Breaking news: In the first ruling of its kind nationwide, a Montana state court decided Monday in favor of young people who alleged the state violated their right to a “clean and healthful environment” by promoting the use of fossil fuels.
The court determined that a provision in the Montana Environmental Policy Act has harmed the state’s environment and the young plaintiffs, by preventing Montana from considering the climate impacts of energy projects. wapo.st/3OR7zZv

*Red Team Blues* is my next novel, a #PostCyberpunk anti-finance finance #thriller; it's a major title for my publishers @TorBooks and @HoZ_Books, and it's swept the trade press with starred reviews all 'round. Despite all that, #Audible will not sell the #audiobook. 1/

As a company from eastern Germany, we know that building a wall to try and keep people from leaving isn't a good idea.

Great piece by @evan_greer on how we need to build a future social media ecosystem that doesn't have a new monarch, and instead is a participatory democracy.
