Among too many investors, the misconception still dominates that if something is good for the climate, it is at the expense of financial returns. It has long been proven that the opposite is true. 🌍📈 (Sources below!)
Thanks for letting me talk about this at the DENA congress.🙏

42 days to #COP26. It'll take everyone to fight climate change in time to save the planet– including big tech, and not by a miracle invention, but tech we have now, for everyone. We must #electrifyeverything #climateaction @rewiringamerica

My new article in @CC_Yale is on new climate-economics research investigating the question, what if economies can't fully recover from climate damages and it slows economic growth? The answer: absolutely staggering climate costs. Thread 🧵 & article:

To add to this : Every tenth of a degree matters. 1.7C is worse that 1.5C, but a lot better than 2C. 2.5C is worse than anyone wants, but far far better than 3C.
It's never too late. We have a huge opportunity to stave off disaster.

Every man, woman & child will use, on average, 1-2tCO₂ per person Carbon Capture & Storage after 2050, according to the average 1.5°C scenario.
This would not be evenly distributed over people / countries, but that is quite an amount!

This is how CO₂ emissions have changed in Western Europe.
• Shown are the last 10 years for which I have data.
• Outsourced production is taken into account.
In all Western European countries CO₂ emissions have declined.

The increase in atmospheric CO₂ concentrations (bars) closely correlates to annual CO₂ emissions (lines), ~45% of the emissions stay in the atmosphere.
Variability is large, particularly during El Niños, & this limits our ability to verify emissions.

It takes a lot more energy to suck CO2 out of the atmosphere than you get putting it up there in the first place.
Thats not to say DAC does not have a role, but its mainly viable to offset the hardest to decarbonize bits rather than as an alternative to broader mitigation.
