Join us for the Seattle Walk to End Hydrocephalus, 9am Sept. 20 at Magnuson Park. Organized by the Hydrocephalus Association, that has supported our research into genetic causes of hydrocephalus and potential therapeutic targets. You can also donate at support.hydroassoc.org/goto/…
If you're looking for an incredibly supportive environment with great science and fantastic colleagues, please apply! Even as a basic researcher, I really appreciate that our work fits into the overall mission here to help kids live longer, happier and healthier lives.
The Center for Developmental Biology and Regenerative Medicine in the Seattle Children’s Research Institute, affiliated with the U of Washington, seeks outstanding scientists. Areas of interest are any relevant to human disease and development. jobs.sciencecareers.org/job/…

Great collaborative paper out from the Eade and Wiseman labs, led by @jessica_rosarda . We uncovered the mechanism of toxicity behind a common lipid defect that leads to degenerative eye disease. @LabWiseman @NatureComms doi.org/10.1038/s41467-023-3…

Dear PhD students,
You should reach out to labs you are interested in for postdocs even if they do not specifically advertise! There are many funding opportunities out there even if your paper is still under review/in BioRXiv.

What if you could image cells in fixed tissue sections, choose which ones to sequence 🔬, and then return to the same cells after NGS?
Light-Seq⚡️🧬: high-res spatial sequencing of cells in fixed tissue for directly linking imaging + NGS + protein stains!

A shout-out to Dr. Leah VandenBosch @MsCephalopod in our lab for receiving the Helen Juanita Reed Award and fellowship from @_BrightFocus AND for her recent manuscript tvst.arvojournals.org/articl… predicting the effects of variants within non-coding regulatory regions of the retina...
This paper now out in TVST predicts the effect of non-coding variants on retinal enhancer and promoter function using an SVM-based machine learning approach developed by M Beer and colleagues but trained with human retinal epigenomic data.
Lead by Leah VandenBosch this was an inspiring collaboration with co-author @KelseyTLuu and tremendous contributions from @timmo2003, Yue Wu, and @aaronylee! Our hope is that this work can continue to develop as a powerful resource. Reach out with questions and suggestions!
