My goodness! I really appreciate this apology from Kormendy. It’s brave to have apologized and to have withdrawn the paper. #PaperThatShallNotBeNamed chandra.as.utexas.edu/apolog…

Aussies! If you’re not really particularly religious, please tick #NoReligion when you fill out #Census21. Vid explains why I think it matters. Xxx @Humanists_Aus

The universe can be accurately and inadequately described as "big", but are we alone in it? It's a question we've long asked, and we don't yet have an answer, but if there's one person who is the authority on the subject, then it's Dr Jill Tarter, who led the SETI Institute.

We made this pre-election, thinking that we’d never have to release it. After the events of today, we decided to post, #Bloodlines

This is an excellent report. (Also a textbook lesson in how to write a minimal script that lets the pictures tell the story, a rare skill in Australia.)

Do you suffer from having to organise and analyse a set of numbers? Then Spreadsheets may be for you! Written by me, performed by @mmaarrow, edited by @mralexgb. It's from the middle of my latest @YouTube video but is too good to hide away.

A few weeks ago we heard about the discovery of Phosphine on Venus. This evening, someone at the @IAU_org decided they were annoyed other people were in the limelight. I wrote a response to their statement: docs.google.com/document/d/1…

Very exciting that CHEOPS is taking data! KELT-11 must have been optimally placed for visibility, but even so I'm impressed that CHEOPS has an almost continuous viewing zone (more like a very small data gap zone).

Trying to learn asteroseismology. This great paper by Yu and @danxhuber effectively shows that mode (and granulation) amplitudes are comparably informative to nu-max in predicting delta-nu & star parameters. Exciting b/c amps are easier to measure! arxiv.org/abs/1802.04455
