Per Crimethinc, an anonymous anti-authoritarian publishing collective, which had their account suspended “within hours” of Andy Ngo urging Elon Musk to suspend them: “We received an email from [Twitter] establishing that our account was not in violation of Twitter policy.”

I don't know, I think Amazon has done a pretty good job in a lot of areas of making sure customer obsession means "deep understanding of the customer" and not "do what's in their best interests"

In particular I'd say people leaving @twitter we're putting on a fast track to see how they can help super-charge @tumblr. We can't absorb thousands of people, but I'd be open to hiring entire teams if they already work great together.

The common theme to the FTX and Twitter farces is that centralized intermediaries are a weak point in the digital world and need to be extra robust. I'd go so far as to say that, because they can be universally beneficial (or harmful), they should be run as nonprofits.

"Do you not see there's a problem?" "There's an algorithm here tracking a human worker." Labour MP Darren Jones absolutely slates Amazon's European head of public policy over their dystopian surveillance of workers.

I am fundamentally unsurprised at the FTX fiasco; it's like getting word that Phineas "Oil Slick" McGuillcuddy has not turned out to have an elixir that cures grandmama's consumption but it is fact grain alcohol and shoe polish and also Oil Slick has skipped town.

We need to pay the bills somehow! Twitter cannot rely entirely on advertisers. How about $8?

This is an unfortunately good summary of why running a social network is so hard, as I’ve learned with @tumblr. I am wishing Twitter the best and also hope this doesn’t slow down Tesla or SpaceX, which I think are critical to the future. theverge.com/2022/10/28/2342…

I left Amazon/AWS in June, 2022, and it’s time to start working again. I’m not looking for the same kind of role that I held at Amazon/AWS, and this thread attempts to explain what I’m looking for. DMs open/RTs appreciated.

Is the Pixel 7 Pro as good as a "real" camera? With @madebygoogle bragging of its "pro-level zoom" and AI smarts, I wanted to see how close it got to my $10,000 of DSLR gear. Answer: closer than any other phone. Here's my assessment & a thread. 1/ cnet.com/tech/mobile/i-spent…
