The cost of the Large Hadron collider was about the combined net worth of the 5 richest people in America at the time it was planned
Today, any one of the 10 richest people could single-handedly fund the next collider and they'd still be the 10 richest people

Beyond her acting, Hedy Lamarr co-invented an early version of frequency-hopping spread spectrum communication, a technology that laid the groundwork for modern Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. She developed this with composer George Antheil during World War II as a means to prevent the jamming of radio-guided torpedoes.

This is a really good piece of advice/insight
Undergrads make a classic mistake when picking their courses
They’ll go for the “modern” ones (web dev, big data systems, mobile computing, <insert shiny object> here) when they should actually be going for the hard, fundamental courses (operating systems, computer architecture, transistor design, etc.)
All the “modern” stuff can be self taught pretty easily. The fundamentals, however, take time and effort to master

Boy, do I have a language for you!
One of the weird things about working in the #Python community is that our core technologies are mostly not written in Python.
If someone wants to contribute code, now they have two problems.
