I thought I would let you Lovely People know how Mr Lumpy & Friends came to be. 21 years ago we moved into our new home, a new build, built on the footprint of an old mill, situated in a little village, but surrounded by conservation woodland and a grand old hall next door. My old cat Jack was 16 at the time and one night was having a hissy fit In the garden, when I opened the door to investigate to my shock it was a Badger! I had never seen a badger before and didn’t know anything about them. From that day on they had a well trodden run through the garden so it was apparent that my garden was their territory. I didn’t try and stop them I embraced the fact , felt honoured and that is where my Love affair started. 21 years of feeding different generations that have visited our garden has been quite magical. It’s only been the last 11 years that we have named them and studied them each night so that we can tell them all apart. The social media started as a bit of fun but has grown beyond belief over the last nearly 8 years from just a few followers to over 550,000 from all over the world and we have raised over £18,000 for various wildlife organisations which has taken a lot of hard work and is something that I am very proud of. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for following and supporting 🙏 In my eyes that’s a lot of people that now see Badgers and our wonderful wildlife In a more positive light. As some of you may know Mike had to retire early due to FND (Functional Neurological Disorder) he suffers from memory issues, stutters, balance, speech loss, tremors and choking issues. With FND you never know what each day will bring and just this last week Mike had a day where he was vacant as if there was no one behind his eyes (if you know what I mean) which then resulted in terrible memory and speech loss followed the next day by violent tremors. It’s so sad to see but all we can do is recognise the symptoms and manage them as best we can. So me Christine The Nut Fairy has had to step up to try and make a go of our little online gift shop. Mr Lumpy & Friends supporters help us by making donations or purchases from our little online shop which not only helps us it also helps the wildlife organisations that we support. So I ask you next time you’re thinking of buying a gift or something for yourself please take a look at our shop. I’ve done my best with a range of quality goods at reasonable prices and you would be supporting a small business. We are not a faceless entity, you all know that it’s me and Mike you are talking to, taking orders packing the goods ourselves and dealing with customer services as quickly and as efficiently as we can.
