Here at Edmontonās Sacred Heart of the First Peoples Church where @Pontifex will visit Monday. Streets are blocked off & stationed with police. This area is usually filled with homeless people, most of them Indigenous, but itās been cleared out⦠ā at Edmonton, Alberta
Education & healthcare are at a breaking point. Prices for food/utilities/gas etc. are untenable. We need safe injection sites & mental health supports & more. Ppl are struggling. Iāll vote NDP, but the comms strategy needs work. Dunking on Kenney isnāt enough to win an election.

Iāve been tagged in a few Black History Month tweets re: the poster series thatās on my TPT. Always dope to see them in schools, but just want to make a PSA that they couldnāt have been created without the direction and writing skills of @SAdomakoAnsah. I only did the drawings :)
Did I mention sheās also the current Educator in Residence at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights? Sheās kind of a bad ass, so definitely give her some love šš¼
Oh, and sheās also the co-founder of the @btassociation_, and theyāre doing some pretty cool stuff this month. š

Are you Indigenous? Thinking of becoming a teacher? Do it. We need more Indigenous teachers in the education system šš¾.

Folks attacking teachers act like our goal is to work remotely. In reality, teaching online is both more work + far less joy. We donāt want to teach onlineāwe just want ourselves, our students, + our families to be safe. We could be fighting for safe in-person schooling together!

I hate online teaching. For myself and for my students. But do you know what I hate more? Knowing Omicron will likely rip through the unboosted/unvaccinated populations of students in mere weeks and worrying how many will have severe outcomes or long Covid. We need a plan NOW.
I have two questions:
1) Are white men okay?
2) How do you decide who is alpha of the alphas? Do they take turns?
If the World Juniors are getting cancelled bc of COVID, I struggle to see how AB schools stay open. This tourny had all the time/money/effort invested & it still spread. Schools have way less resources. Kenney needs to make a decision now to give teachers & families time to prep.
Iām at the point of Christmas where I almost wish I had COVID so I had an excuse to isolate.
(This is a joke & I donāt wish COVID on any1. I love my family, but extra ppl is rough as an ADHDāer prone to sensory overload. + the unresolved tension of being the eldest daughter š)

A teacher being removed from an elementary classroom for wearing a hijab should make *every single* Canadian angry, not just Muslim Canadians.

So, in the past year the ocean has literally been on fire; weāve seen entire cities on fire or flooded; weāve experienced record heat waves that took lives and animals are changing their behaviour due to climate change and weāre doing what exactly?
Why arenāt we listening?
