BREAKING NEWS 🚨 "It Will Wound My Soul": Mavava Skhakhane Rejects ANC Coalition in eThekwini, Shuts Down DA Alliance Entirely High-stakes coalition negotiations in the eThekwini Municipality have taken a dramatic turn as prominent political figure Mavava Skhakhane drew a firm line in the sand, explicitly rejecting potential alliances with both the African National Congress (ANC) and the Democratic Alliance (DA). Speaking with deep emotional conviction, the IFP's eThekwini Deputy Mayoral Candidate Skhakhane made it clear that a partnership with the ANC is completely off the table, stating that working with the party in eThekwini would "wound him spiritually." The deeply personal statement highlights the intense friction and breakdown of trust blocking a potential governing agreement with the liberation movement in the metro. While Skhakhane's resistance to the ANC was expressed in terms of emotional and spiritual distress, his dismissal of the DA was even more absolute. He flatly refused to even entertain discussions with the official opposition, asking supporters and negotiators to "forgive him" but to completely drop any expectations of a DA partnership. With eThekwini's council remaining highly fractured, Skhakhane's dual rejection leaves the municipality's coalition prospects in a state of gridlock. His refusal to back either of the country's two largest political entities forces smaller parties and kingmakers to completely rethink their strategies to form a stable majority. As local political leaders scramble to find common ground, Skhakhane's uncompromising stance signals that the battle for the future of eThekwini will not be won through traditional or convenient political marriages.
