Proud to announce that @Avantium has successfully completed its fundraise and has secured EUR 70 million. This is a major vote of confidence by our existing shareholders (institutional and retail) and new shareholders to ensure that we are well capitalized for the next phase!

Article in @nrc (leading Dutch newspaper), translates into: are you scared by petroleum? Wait for plastic, that will be the real horror. Unfortunately no reference to renewable and circular solutions to remedy our oil addiction! nrc.nl/nieuws/2023/09/27/van…

If you look at biopolymer materials like #PEF, there are near term, high-performance, fossil free solutions coming to the market that can help to decouple plastic materials from petroleum and other fossil feedstocks

Interesting article in @FT about @LEGO_Group abandoning recycled PET to replace fossil-based ABS bricks. Conclusions: 1- Performance is key 2- Avoid a narrow focus on recycled plastic materials 3 - Radical innovation is required 🧵 on.ft.com/46nYE7T

Radical innovation will come from new players in the plastics industry. Where petrochemical companies champion incremental improvements and focus on tiny efficiency gains, we need radical innovation to deliver the real solutions to address our plastic problem.

A good example of this radical innovation is the collaboration between @LEGO_Group, @Avantium and @UVA to develop and test FDCA and isosorbide based plastic materials as replacement of ABS and as a future proof material. The future of plastics is above the ground!
