roko's basilisk is a joke but literally everything these people do is roko's basilisk. the whole rationalist way of thinking is almost grotesquely freudian, this obsessional neurosis straight out of totem and taboo
the funniest part about this is that it suggests that all the doomer sci-fi stories on lesswrong and similar sites are literally causing the very behavior that frightens them so much. they're polluting the training data!

The death drive is the only good thing abt psychoanalysis. it’s the reason we do everything else, including what we don’t do. Once you apprehend (not overcome) the death drive you realize living with death is the most right way to manage everything from yr actions to yr emotions

Was recently made aware of an incredible collection of Japanese experimental gig flyers from 1975 to 1994. Lots of beautifully hand drawn/handwritten graphics, treated photographs, and collaging. Link to the full archive in the replies.

So basically probably lots of people have alien-hand syndrome for their thoughts now where they're unaware of the process that generates their ideas but upon request can unconsciously come up with baseless narratives to explain them
New Anthropic research: How AI agents shape experts' judgment calls When experts delegate work to an agent, do they still make the key decisions? We tested this in a randomized trial with 50 professional data analysts.
