"Mattick truly believed that the emancipation of the working class must be the task of the workers themselves."
Very excited this is finally seeing the light of day! Thanks to everyone who worked so hard on this!
We are happy to release the first part of our “Young Mattick” Dossier, including translations of Paul Mattick's short fiction and reports from 1924-1934. This dossier has 11 pieces in total, with a preface by Marie and an afterword by @totalcritique endnotes.org.uk/dossiers/the…
"The higher the hopes, the brighter the flash of possibility, the harder the comedown."
Replying to @endnotesjournal
The rest of the issue consists of shorter reflections. First, A New Institute for Social Research (@totalcritique) describe the impact of the uprising on an ‘essential’ workplace and analyses the gendered divisions between 'party' and 'class'.

“The answer to the question of the purpose of the theory of value is quite different for the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. The bourgeoisie asks about the prices of commodities, the proletariat about the organisation of society.”

Good article on Hegel as a critic of instrumental reason, countering the tendency to dismiss the Frankfurt school's concept as of purely Weberian origin

Mattick telling it like it is: "There is in fact only one resolution to the problem—more properly, the social system—of exploitation, racism, war, inequality, and public corruption that Israel shares with every other nation of sufficient weight: the no-state solution."
This rocks. Inevitable philosophical & terminological quibbles aside, of the best analyses we’ve read of last summer’s uprising, and the leftist quagmire it died in.
Adrian Wohlleben on race treason, demolitionism, and the limits of last year's uprising.

Unfortunately, though unsurprisingly, very true. Guérin's own underappreciated work, insisting that universal polymorphous-erotic liberation & the abolition of the gender binary are essential to communist revolution, remains a potent retort to the repressed & repressive left.

What Shemon says here of racialization is true, mutatis mutandis, of gender, sex, sexuality, nationality... and class. Everything must go. The feud between identity-politicians and socdem class-politicians is a red herring— the real split is between self-abolition and affirmation
"In a world of white supremacy, identity has become a piece of private property that even radicals cling to like their personal brand. It seems we have forgotten that in the destruction of racial capitalism, we will be destroyed ourselves."

Absolutely correct. And such a reconstruction has to be able to, on the basis of value theory, account for *why* at a certain point in the trajectory of accumulation money ceased to be a commodity, & the profound structural crisis of the mode of production this shift represents.
