On a night with no Cooper Flagg or Kyrie Irving, Mavericks fans at the home opener were instead treated to the NBA coming-out party of Mavericks rookie Sergio de Larrea. 👀🔥

I told Sergio de Larrea that he didn't seem particularly surprised by scoring 21 points tonight. He smiled. "No, yes, I am. I am, for sure. It's my first time scoring this points. Last two games, it was different."
In Mavs' first two games, he scored zero points and took 2 shots.
Forty-six of Dallas’ 60 first-half points occurred in the paint tonight.
According to @Elias, the 46 paint points are the most the Mavericks have scored in a single half in the play-by-play era (since 1997-98). The previous most was 44 (3 times).
4th foul on Gafford. Putting him back in backfired, but I'm sure Dusty May felt the game starting to slip away.

The Mavericks have feasted on floaters all night. 42 of their 49 points have come inside the paint.
A lot of Mavs fans probably showed up tonight thinking they'd been short-changed -- no Flagg and no Irving.
But guess what? So far the Mavs are giving a pretty good home-opening show, leading the Spurs 49-43 while shooting 64%.
