using ranges on different timeframes
if you're trading on a higher timeframe, sometimes you'll find a range worth paying attention to. you can trade it on this timeframe or look for a lower one to get an even better entry and more opportunities
around the extremes of the ranges, you can dial down to a lower timeframe and look for a reversal pattern to form to send it back down to the other side of the htf range as your logical target
this gives you more trades than just focusing on the one timeframe you found the main range in, which ends up being used as your map for intraday or intraweek trades
this approach works on any timeframe, the picture below is just guidance. you can find something on an hourly timeframe and trade it on the 15 minute chart at the extremes, or even find something on the 5 minute chart and enter on the one minute like me
the concept is the same across all timeframes and instruments. you'll find most charts range more often than not, so looking for ltf reversals at extremes is a simple but effective strategy as long as you're trading at the right places and understand the higher timeframe context
price action trading is simple but not easy. it requires a lot of patience for the right moments and for the right patterns to build
but once you know where to look and what to look for, most of the battle is done
where should you trade ranges?
if you start looking for ranges to trade, or supply/demand zones, you'll see them everywhere. how do you know which ones to take?
these are strictly where i look because these are the places you're guaranteed a reaction
at a swing high/low: price is either going to continue or reverse at these points so it makes sense to do so
middle of the swing can go either way and sometimes both ways. there's a lot of randomness between extremes of swings so it's best to avoid those places and wait
sometimes you won't get a range there but you can look to the levels that precede the break of a barrier. these are areas where we know there's liquidity because buying or selling originated from these points to change the market strcuture, i.e. break the high or low
at these points, again, we know we are guaranteed to get a reaction
if you take just one pattern from my previous post and you take just one point on the chart from this post and you run with it, there's all the strategy you need
it's boring when you get to the charts and there's nothing to do
it's frustrating when you want to make progress but you go days without entering anything
it's depressing when you finally get that trade and it's a loss
but when you get the next win, everything is forgotten

price is currently ranging between the daily timeframe high and the most recent high before testing it
we're at a daily continuation level so it makes sense to look for longs
ideal scenario is to see it build here, otherwise at the daily range low of 75.4k

don't fuck your week up by having a bad monday because of emotions or boredom
have a goal for the week and write down what you need to achieve it
then make sure you stick to that behaviour
you'll be nicely surprised at what you can achieve by friday
new week tomorrow. last week means nothing now whether it was good or bad
just because it was good last week for you doesn't mean it's going to be good again this week, and more importantly, it doesn't mean that this week will be bad again either
you put it all behind you and start fresh, taking it day by day and seeing what you come out with on friday night
and for this week, don't judge if it was good or bad by your pnl at the end of it. judge it on whether or not you followed your rules
and all you have to focus on tomorrow is following those rules, nothing else
good luck 💪

first there was bitcoin, then there were altcoins for companies, then there were nfts, then everyone could create a coin at the press of a button
nowhere else for crypto to go from here but full circle back to bitcoin imo
My biggest losses in crypto over the years (into the 7-figs range), hasn't been perp trading, hasn't been trenching, hasn't been memes, its been.... bag holding altcoins.
It doesn't matter the infrastructure, tokenomics, big VC backers or main character backers. Holding things that are -80% off the highs, can literally nuke another -80% upon entry.
Altcoins have always "looked" like an ideal beta play to bitcoin, but during then 2025 Bitcoin highs we learned that to be 100% untrue.
The story now becomes: "Will they ever have another alt-szn?"
My heart says yes, but it's really hard to say. With the extractions phase of memes, trenching and getting rich quick through streamers and cabals pushing like its easy, I find it hard to believe we ever see another one.
The game has changed. The believers in sound infrastructure within blockchain technology seem to be completely gone and now replaced w/ schizo trenchers who publicly stream they have insider information on launches and get $6M token allocations.
I hope this changes. Not only for the sake of the industry but for the devs who have poured their life's work into building within the cryptocurrency industry. They have been outshined by pictures of animals and serial deployers for way too long.
Liquidity and money is spread too thin. The ones who lost everything during prior drawdowns aren't willing to deploy more and have been replaced with a new influx of crypto money that is drawn to memecoin gambling.
How does this change? I have no fucking clue
just remember that if you've ever been in a dark place and got out of the other side then that's all the proof you need for yourself that you can do it again 💪

i've been trading price action and ranges for nearly 12 years. here it is in the simplest form
first to define the range, i use the high of the trend as the range high and the low that precedes the high being retested as the range low
it tends to work out quite nicely i've found but in reality it doesn't matter too much - the key information is the sideways price action
the way in which you trade a range is entirely dependent on your personality and appetite for risk
for me, i like to take a second breakout of a range with more confirmation and a higher strike rate because i find it a better way for my mind to deal with. i find it consistently repeatable too
it gimps the r:r a bit compared to a deviation, but you can still get a nice measured move of 2-3r reliably if you're putting your stop on the opposite side of the range
trading the deviation comes with more risk because you don't have as much confirmation but it can turn that 2-3r into more like 5-7r on the right move
the downside is you don't have the confirmation and are predicting the move before the volume comes in, meaning you can be wrong a lot
it also matters where in the chart your range is. you'll find clusters of sideways price action all over the place but context is key
just one of these patterns and entry styles is all you need to focus on. if you're stuck with your trading just take one of these and run with it and get as many reps as possible, and i promise it will all click

you have to put in the work for yourself, sorry
you might hear something and know it to be true and have it click in your brain, but the knowledge of the truth isn't enough to change you

why fomo into lots of shit trades when you can just wait for an a+ setup and risk more?
things changed for my trading when i adjusted my mindset to this
there are two ways you can approach online prop trading
1 - play the game, go for max risk positions and quick passes/fails. use max risk to try generate big returns on live to make up for the fails. hedge accounts from different firms to guarantee passing but you'll need a good bankroll to get started to make up for burning through challenges and hedging firms
this is what 99% of influencers do by the way
2 - trade with appropriate risk and a solid edge. spend some time to pass, get the funding, and reduce the risk on live and focus on longevity. repeat to stack accounts and funded capital
more people should focus on this route than what the social media garbage feeds them. it takes time but is more rewarding and you can actually make a career out of trading

if you're trying to grow your trading account over the long term, don't worry about the long term
just worry about turning up today and doing the right things, even if that means sitting on your hands
then show up again tomorrow and do the right things again
higher timeframe gets taken care of by just doing the right habits on any given day and putting your energy there, not even thinking about your long term goal
i'm growing my social media in front of everyone. it doesn't go as fast as i'd like but all i can do is turn up, do my posts each day, stream on schedule and stay consistent
same with your trading. the changes come gradually, not some big smack in the face
future you will thank you for stacking up the right effort each day
