An explosion around noon at a construction site on Shek Kwu Chau led to the evacuation of 930 workers, with boats ferrying the workers to Cheung Chau and Tsuen Wan.
As of 4pm two Government Flying Service helicopters were still in service over the island.

Revised Star Ferry fares have been approved by ExCo, with weekday trips to increase by between HK$0.60 and HK$1, while weekend and public holiday fares will rise by HK$1 to HK$1.80 from January 25th.
The monthly ticket price will remain unchanged at HK$190.
