Culture Hero trap: Messiah traps There's an insidious category of traps an aspiring Culture Hero must watch out for. It can ruin your life: You're an advanced Pseudo-Autist, and you've decided to use your gifts to help the poor helpless normies. Maybe you're doing it for pay. You've started to get results, so that things are getting better for your target in his life. He's starting to see you as the solution to his problems. All his problems. But you're not. No one is. The idea that you could be a solution to some of his problems and not others is hard for a struggling normie to grasp. As soon as you fail to solve the next problem for him, he will turn on you with normie viciousness. I call this the Messiah Trap...

The enemy within - and without: The biggest mistake of many Christians is to totally internalize Satan, ignoring the ways he attacks through others. Yes, we must put our own house in order before trying to fix the world. But before we can put our house in order, we need to defeat the arsonists outside. This is the point Jordan Peterson misses. Every individual needs a foreign policy - to deal with other individuals. Peterson speaks of hegemony and do-gooderism, but neglects defense. We must defeat existential threats. That comes first. Getting our own house in order comes second. Trying to fix the world comes third - if at all. Original sin is the sins of others forcing us into sin.

The only correct way to interpret anything is in context. The only correct way to interpret New Testament passages on forgiving enemies is to remember: they were addressed to Jews and Christians who were greatly outnumbered in the midst of a pagan empire. My theory: It was an appeasement strategy. Appeasement is good if it's used from a weak position to buy time, but bad for any other purpose. Jesus' point was to talk the Zealots and the Sicarii down off of the ledge. Paul's point was to avoid making more enemies than necessary. We are living with the consequences of trying to apply this principle in the wrong place and time. This is the essence of Cuckianity. #StupidityRuinsEverything Here is a principle that always applies in some form: be ye wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Know when to sell your cloak and buy a sword. Know when to sheath it, when to brandish it, and when to use it.

The Borg are scary because they tap into the normie's fear of the upper fringe. At some level, the normies know that upper fringers are superior. Because normies see everyone unlike themselves as a potential threat, this translates into hatred and fear of the upper fringe, operating at a sub-rational - and probably subconscious - level. The Borg represent a highly plausible scenario for the next phase of evolution of conscious life, replacing mankind as we know it. Kurzweil describes this. The normies do not want to be replaced. Well, neither did homo erectus - probably. The Borg promise to upload everything that is best about every civilization it conquers. This is cold comfort to mediocre individuals. (For purposes of argument, I'm ignoring the collectivist aspect of the Borg. Of course, they're space commies. But that's just the writers taking the easy way out.)

Why can't the Borg leave well enough alone? Because no one leaves well enough alone. Normie tribes don't leave each other alone, which is why we have wars. Normies don't leave the upper fringe alone, which is the main reason why we have Damaged. At a high enough level, the world is a Dark Forest. Every tribe must conquer or be conquered. The Borg do what they must to survive.

Power, will, intelligence. This is my stack. Power is the lowest level of reality. That which is and does. Matter and energy are the same thing. Will is the lowest level of sentience. It is desire without restraint. Will is the nature of all living things. It seeks to direct power for its own ends. Intelligence is the highest level below God Himself. It seeks to direct will itself. It makes rationality and learning possible. It is the potential for consciousness and self awareness. But it is fragile and buggy, because it is not yet fully evolved.

Attention is all you need.
Replying to @netcapgirl
Unironically the best time in history for certain mental illnesses. Dead serious about this. Attention is now the only scarce resource, and certain mental illnesses generate substantial thirst for attention (histrionicism), which can now be monetized by more people than ever.

The insecure in power know they are frauds and fear their betters. Simply being better than them is a threat. The neurotic coward in power is a tyrant. His evil is a way of managing his fear of everyone. An important aspect of masking is to appear less competent than you are - and thus less of a threat. It is good to be underestimated by your natural enemies.

The Messiah Trap: If you fail to save them, they will hate you. If you don't offer to save them, they will expect you to save them anyway. This is why unconditional compassion is a mistake. Be prepared to walk away and leave them to their doom.

Peace is a luxury virtue. Like most luxuries, it's a good thing in itself. Like all luxuries, it has a high cost. The price of peace is for the right side to win the war. Rational people desire peace, and will buy it if they can. Bad people have no interest in peace, and must never be allowed to win. The price of winning the war is to out-fight the enemy. That comes first. Childish people make a cargo cult of peace, and try to bring it about via magical thinking. Neurotic people fight halfheartedly. Sensible people fight to win.

The strong are hard to marginalize. You can hate them, but they will fight back effectively and command your grudging respect.

Do not ask normies' permission to change the world. Do not even let normies in the loop. Normies do not want the world changed. (Normies fear change, but only as a possibility. If you present them with a fait accompli and enforce it, they will eventually retcon it as the new normal.) Do not let lower fringers know you are trying to change the world. They have their own agenda: kleptocracy. Do not attempt to change the world without first looking into how the world works. Understand the system before you patch it. At which point, you may discover a way to get by within the world as it is. But beware: someone else may change the world on you. Or it may collapse on its own. Never go full native in normie land. Normie land is not long term sustainable. Sit comfortable in your deck chair, but watch out for icebergs - and know where the nearest lifeboat is.

The problem with trying to get along peaceably with Low Functioning Normies is they don't get along all that well with each other. Observe all their stupid drama. This proves they're the problem, and not you. And because you can't change them, you can't be the solution. So forget trying to manage them or teach them. They are beyond the direct reach of a Culture Hero. (They may, however, be in a market for a Cheap Messiah.) The correct approach to Low Functioning Normies is to notice the signs and stay far away from them. They're bad news. It's that simple. #BadPeopleAreBad Early warning signs: weaker at logic than even than the average normie. A bit too much white showing in the eyes. Slightly fearful, agitated or sullen aspect. Talks too fast, slight tendency to word salad. Says stupid but unoriginal things - canned stupidity. Also, look around the workplace or family. LFNs cluster in groups. They hate each other, but they hate the rest of the world more.

Kindness and mercy in Peer Morality Kindness and mercy? Yes, there's a place for them in Peer Morality. But they must never, ever be top priority. Remember: reciprocity is the feedback mechanism by which Peer Morality keeps human relationships sane. This means everything must be earned. Conventional, sentimental notions of kindness and mercy undermine this. This is what I call Stupid Good. Reciprocity works, mostly. But nothing works all the time. There are failure modes, and a rational approach to managing those failure modes would look a lot like kindness and mercy. So we may as well use those labels - with modifications...

I have a low opinion of organized religion, and a deep distrust of established religion. As for legacy Americans, the very idea smells of nepotism. These are the reasons why I am leery of Christian nationalism. As to the very real issues it speaks to, I would much prefer Peer Morality. But I have nowhere near the influence needed to turn that into a movement. Sometimes you have to settle for the lesser evil. That's why I won't denounce Christian nationalists as loudly or as often as I would like to. The lower fringe is destroying our society, and we must fight with any weapon at hand.

There's a remote chance the CNs will get more moderate after they've won. Happened with Franco in Spain. It's certainly not the general rule, however. More likely: an organized upper fringe will need to oppose their worst excesses after the lower fringe has been dealt with. Normies are tribal, and there's no fixing that. Peer Morality may be beyond them. But religious nationalism is right up their alley. This is not an endorsement. It is a grudging acceptance of the inescapable. There is #NoPoliticalCenter. There is no middle ground in a culture war.
