The European Commission will present a legal proposal on Thursday called the EU Kids Act which could put limits on young people’s access to social media platforms.

All these platforms will be forced to verify users' ages.
Under 13: only accounts opened and controlled by a parent.
13 to 15: "introductory" accounts with screen-time limits, parental controls and restrictions on contact with strangers.
From 15: teenagers can sign up on their own.
The EU Kids Act is due Thursday, according to POLITICO, which has seen the preparatory documents.

The EU is pressing hard member states to roll out a new age-verification app as quickly as possible, targeting the end of this year
They say the app works in a simple, privacy-focused way:

Several nations, including France, Italy, Spain and others, are already testing the system.
Considering the app demo got hacked in under 2 minutes with a mobile phone, these are terrible news, I can see a massive data breach of personal info

Brussels wants the company to feed daily search data on hundreds of millions of Europeans to unknown third parties via an open API.
They call it "anonymization," but the search queries alone can reveal a user's identity.
And von der Liar's dictatorship will never ask for your permission.
