It's essential to think hard about the consequences of our lifestyle choices, even if they're completely typical in the society we live in. Thank you @Louise_m_perry for reminding us of the deep tradeoffs associated with the nuclear family structure. nytimes.com/2025/10/14/opini…

Do we have any stats on teachers who are lone maskers in their schools? High rate of infection? #Covid19  #BringBackMasks #LongCovid #back2school #teacher

According to @alvelda, our governments' headquarters have been equipped with the top COVID fighting measures, yet most of our schools are operating as if in pre-pandemic times. Why the disconnect? ineteconomics.org/perspectiv…

I'm sorry, Dave ☹️ We all deserve to feel safe at work. Thanks for enlightening me about the Corsi-Rosenthal box! What great additional protection measure! I wonder how many people left the education field 4 safety concerns. I've heard the understaffing has worsened since COVID.

With covid so prevalent within school environments, how safe do you feel even while wearing a mask? Are you aware of any data that shed light on the level of protection an N95 mask provides within the context of chronic exposure to highly infectious environments?

"Employers want a workforce that is committed and punctual." So gross that they put that in there within this context. Most school systems are emotionally & philosophically disconnected. They've been that way for a long time. As Hannah Arendt put it, "the banality of evil."

Do u trust humanity to take the #ExistentialRisk of #AI seriously? How's our risk management record so far? Are u scoffing at me right now, thinking there have always been those who neurotically freak out about new technologies? When is fear justified? nytimes.com/2024/07/27/opini…

There's a nasty history of powerful foreign corporations going into violent parts of the globe to extract wealth. They've done some horrible things to protect their profits while there. Here's a rare court victory for the victims of Chiquita's crimes. nytimes.com/2024/06/11/world…

How much of your life do you want to be tracked & available for others to see? The car insurance industry has been moving aggressively to track your driving. Many are being tracked without their knowledge. Are you a victim of this hidden surveillance? nytimes.com/2024/06/09/techn…

@WEAllCA I think you have an issue with your website's server. I haven't been able to access it reliably. I've been trying to subscribe to the newsletter, but the website is again no longer working. Hopefully it'll be an easy fix!

I have the same question. I'm surprised it's so hard to find the answer.
Any #doctors or #epidemiologist that can answer a #COVID19 question? How soon after exposure(not a positive test or symptoms) are you contagious if you're infected? Checked CDC site, its all per symptoms or positive test.

I didn't know air purifiers existed for cars. Thanks! I'll probably buy one soon, as I worry about the air quality in my car cabin.

I'm glad you're asking about this! I haven't replaced my car mats in years for the same reason. I don't want to be breathing in toxic crap, but I haven't been able to find car mats that clearly address this issue.

I'm definitely gonna keep flossing though. I think u just find it hella tedious. I cant think of how it could possibly hurt to floss, but I can certainly think of reasons why the opposite would be true. I hope u still encourage ur friends to floss, even if you've been fine w/o it

You know ... I stumbled upon probiotic toothpaste recently. I was quite skeptical. But It's tough out there to figure out what to choose when so often the experts themselves disagree or decent evidence contradicts the professional status quo.

I get that the biology of the human body is extremely complex. Just with the mouth; you have to consider the bacteria that are colonizing; the person's diet; when, how, & how often they brush & floss; & much more. It's daunting!

Maybe you're one of the people with exceptionally resilient teeth & you can get away with not flossing. I hope this is the case! But c'mon, how does it not seem like a preferable course of action to scrape away the decaying food between your teeth???
