Oya boss, OpenAI start December 2015. Google don dey use language models long before: Word2Vec 2013, Transformer paper June 2017 (Attention Is All You Need), BERT Oct 2018, put for Search 2019. Microsoft: early neural NLP + speech, Turing-NLG (17B) Feb 2020. Facebook/Meta: FAIR lab 2013 (Yann LeCun), later Megatron/OPT/Llama. Amazon: Alexa NLP from ~2014, recommendations earlier, but big generative LLMs later (Titan/Nova). Dem dey research neural LMs years before, but modern transformer LLMs start after OpenAI founded. Google lead the architecture wey power everything.
